You know, I'm still having the hardest time with this trick, almost a year later. I've got Boomerang down as far as rhythm goes but this trick's flat out hard. Funny thing is that my brother got back into yo-yoing after our recent trip to the BAC (after I helped him get a B-grade SPYY Stryker), and he's already got the Boing Boing down...and he can't even land a Trapeze yet let alone barely able to get Eiffel Tower.
My hardest part is keeping it aligned, and my hand positioning...it feels extremely awkward, probably because I'm wanting to look at it from the side to see what I'm doing. I've watched several videos to see how different players do it and noticed some do it at a 45-degree angle (more of what I can do better), and some do it vertical.Main Yo-yo lineup:

1. holding the string with the thumb is an advice that can help
2. relax
3. give it some (alot of) time, I'm 8/9 months in and I'm starting to get it (sideways, not frontstyle)
4. relax

Remember that almost 83% of boingy is in the rhythm.
Perfect hand or string position means nothing without the rhythm.
Your brother has it, watch him and note the timing. You'll get it.
Eli hops is the other way, 83% is the placement.
If you succeed in destroying someone's deeply entrenched beliefs using facts and logic, that person won't change his mind but will hate your guts forever.

My brother definitely does have that rhythm down. He described it to me as though he were drumming. For now, I'm going to practice getting the rhythm without getting between the strings, kind of how Ian Poh of Singapore's Duncan crew shows in his video...which is my next issue...it always manages to pop out of the strings... I knew I should have gotten that Superwide, lol. Maybe I'll practice on my Popstar...I suddenly got better at landing trapezes on my Popstar for some strange reason.

Don't mean to double post/bump an older thread but I do want to mention that I can now finally do it, can get about 4 'boings' in. I started off sidestyle as mentioned but now find it easier front style (though I stand somewhat at a 45). I found that wrapping my index finger around the strings helped to keep things aligned, and from there, I need a good decent first boing to keep it going.

Congrats! Now that you have the feel for it, it gets so much easier. Sometimes when I first got it down, I would have a freaky moment here and there where I couldn't get it to work for the life of me. Then later it would come back. Hang in there if you loose connection with it.

I noticed exactly what you said. I will have moments where I will boing for quite a while, then on the next throw, I will get the first boing in and then kill it completely. I've just been on this trick all week, doing it on lunch breaks at work, doing it as soon as I get up, and as I get home from work. I do however see some improvement and finding less 'not feeling it' and more 'getting into the zen-like rhythm.' Now, I'm working on doing variable speeds with it as well as being more clean with it. Definitely my favorite trick!

It was a great feeling conquering Boingy, guess I got it fairly quickly. Always nice to hear of someone else getting it as well.
One thing, not my original idea, that might make it a bit easier for others, is to 'roll into' the first boing.
Do one or two barrel rolls then start Boingy, this will shorten the string up a little bit, and give you more control.
Another thing is I find people talk about the rhythm, and this screwed me up, I didn't get the trick until I abandoned the rhythm and just went as fast as I bloody could. UP and DOWN, UP and DOWN, vaguely familiar rhythm
.
Once I started boinging(?) as fast as I could, it started to work,I would get a couple, then a couple more, soon I could do it, boinging really fast though.
Once you get the basics down you wont have to try to line it up so much, it'll just happen.
After practicing the trick for a while, now I can feel the rhythm of it, I can slow down, and even speed them up now.
