Thread: Balancing the yoyo when its on the string.

What are tips to balance the yoyo when its on a mount.
Split the atom is hard for me.

That is what we are here for, to answer as many of your questions as we can. ;) As far as balancing the yoyo on the string, when the yoyo is on the string (especially in the Split Bottom mount) try to keep you hands centered with each other. If your right hand is to far off from your left (left off from your right) the yoyo will start to flop or tilt. Other than that just practice hard.

Throwing harder, I think will make the yoyo more balanced.

That does not fix the issue.
Balance when yoyoing is acquired over time. Just keep playing and without knowing it you will become more precise.
What is making the yoyo tilt is that the string is rubbing on one side of the yoyo. That side wants to slow down while the other wants to keep spinning, so the yoyo compromises by tilting. To avoid this, the string cannot touch the sides of the yoyo, but just the bearing. This will decrease tilting and increase sleep time as well (which is why questions like "how long does the ____ yo-yo sleep for?" are never answered).
As your throw becomes more natural, you will throw harder and straighter. Just keep playing and have fun. It'll come to you.

Also, if the yoyo tilts when you throw it, adjust your throw to correct it. If the yoyo tilts to the right twist your wrist a slight bit to the left on the next throw. And vice versa. Adjust as needed to get the yoyo to not be tilted. In time you will develop a feel for the right position.
