Stop worrying about what yoyo you should be playing, and just play yoyo. (pssst I am not Landon)

There are a couple of good videos here are a few links

I found that the yoyo needs to kind of pop over your throw hand instead of swinging over. This gives the yoyo some time to reject the string. Basically this is a bit more of an upward swing around the throw hand, like you were to swing it up instead of over. Give the yoyo a little hangtime so to say. Another way is to tap the string with your throwhand pointer finger as the yoyo passes under, this way I thought was harder.
If you practice with a good strong throw this helps too. It is the spinning of the yoyo that forces the string out.
Once you have it somewhat down start practicing the shockwave. http://yoyoexpert.com/learn/059-advanced-shockwave.html. This trick is basically a magic drop to the back string an underpass and repeat. This trick has you do the magic drop to the back string repeatedly, forcing you to get the feel for the move. Good luck ...

Ahh so the strings are not seperating for you. Make sure that when you wrap the string around your throw hand that the wrap around the thumb is around the upper part of the thumb. I was also told once that pointing your throw hand thumb outward will help to land it on the outside string and pointing it inside will help to land it on the inside string. This is not my exp but could not hurt to try it.

Ive been throwing for 2 years and never really got the hang of this trick, because i didnt practice. But after watching some of the vids, i kinda got the concept. Your thumb (the L shape) is there to help push the string out of the yoyo. This is mainly done by your thumb, since the string that is going to be pushed out is closest to your thumb. I found out that by spreading your L wider apart as you pop the yoyo over makes it eaiser to reject the string.

I never understood the problem people have with this trick. I never even tried to learn it online, and had no idea what it was, but someone just taught me randomly in person and I got it almost instantly. I think its just one of those tricks thats nearly impossible to learn online, but easy in person. Like brent stole, except thats hard in person as well, but it makes it easier to get the concept. Maybe ladder mount, too.

I used to have trouble with it. Then, when I had just about finished learning Kamikaze, I had no choice but to learn it, so I did. It's a strange maneuver.

A tip:
Don't move your throwhand at all when doing the magic drop, your other hand does all the work.
Maybe next weeks trick of the week?
