This morning I waltzed to my mailbox, having many trades going on at once I figured something was bound to be in there, and lo and behold; my unknown was there; packaged with it's own box and a handfull of stickers. Thanks to the wonderful people at Madhouse yoyos I now own a yoyo that I helped design aesthetically.

    How quaint.

And she's quite the beast. I decided to name her Martha... for no clear reason.

    LOOK AND FEEL

Well... considering I'm somewhat biased here... my opinion matters a little less in this category. However I do enjoy the color combination. Black and purple ladies and gents... is beautiful. It's pretty. My cheshire cat showed up well on the surface. I have to admit, I was a little nervous as to how well that was going to pan out but it seemed to work decently. Everything else seems rather fine but one thing bugs me. The texture on this thing makes it feel like... ehh...sand? I don't know. It has a "dusty' feel to it. I'm not sure if this yoyo was sandblasted or what happened to make that texture but honestly, I don't like it half as much as the rest of my yoyos.

The yoyo is about the same exact size as my DV888, but rounded rather than angled. This I do like, it's a smaller yoyo with more round features... something I've wanted to have in a yoyo.

It's a light..er.. yoyo. It's not as light as the original 5150 but it's still somewhat light and that's something I like, I like lighter yoyos over heavier yoyos.

    PLAY

Play? PLAY? This thing doesn't play, it freaking dominates. It's smoother than a hairless cat's rear-end and as often as cats lick themselves, that's pretty darn smooth. It flies on the string, fast as a bullet and very stable; I've yet to have it turn over or spin out into a ufo yet. I was able to turn out my normal braintwister combo insanely fast... so fast in fact that I almost hit myself in the head. I'm glad I didn't but if I did, it would have been AWESOME. It thumb grinds just about as well as any other metal yoyo, nothing too special, on normal finger or arm grinds; it gets the job done very well.. although the texture still doesn't feel all too nice.

    In conclusion!

I love it, it's great. I don't like the texture of the yoyo itself but it's still an awesome player, not too light but just light enough for me to spin it out of control on some combos. Think of a DV888 with a small bearing, and more round... yeah I thought so. Now you want it and you might get it if you suck up enough to Madhouse to do a production run.

I'm sorry I can't get you all some pictures, my wife took the camera with her when she went to her in-laws this week... hopefully though some of the 20 or so people getting one of these at worlds will ablige in that area. I hope to get pics up whenever I get the chance.

    VIVA LA MADHOUSE!

The beadblast or whatever will break in eventually and feel really smooth. At least, that's been my experience with my Peaks.

The yoyo's finish has lightened up a bit, it's a lot smoother feeling. I also replaced the flowable silicone with red rtv silicone just the way I like it. I really enjoy this yoyo a lot, it's amazingly stable and the binds are rock hard tight.

It's not even released yet, man. I got my hands on one for doing the artwork on it.
There will be 20 or so at worlds, if they end up getting decent reviews or enough good feedback, Madhouse will consider a production run.

They should do a production run. Every yoyo needs a small bearing counterpart (or counterWEIGHT for that matter [get it? 5a joke.])

Stop worrying about what yoyo you should be playing, and just play yoyo. (pssst I am not Landon)

NOTE:: That isn't a scratch or ding... that's dust... it collects dust like a magnet and I don't know why, must be the coating but it just wipes off. The Unknown does NOT come with red rtv silicone... I did that.

I think I may bug Rick to get it so it not uses flow but the red stuff instead.

And as for a production run, its ALL up in the air.

We need more opinions overall if Rick will do it in the future.

and besides, there is another design that is in the works. ;)
