So this is my review of the Project:
Packaging- ok the packaging is a plain brown box with the onedrop logo printed on it. Just a plain card board box…..nothing special. Nothing out of the ordinary… BUT WHO CARES!!!
Inside The Box- Once you take the lid off of the very small box you see the beautiful yoyo. once you get the yoyo out… you find… a little plastic baggie in the bottom with a little Guide that explains basic things about your yoyo. inside the plastic baggie you will find 2 spare axles “the yoyo came with some black marks on the finish, I dunno what it was but it all wiped off with a moist towel”
Looks- I think the project looks very clean. There are no fancy laser engravings. No off the wall colors, It’s just a nice clean looking yoyo
YoYo Stats -
· Weight: 64 grams
· Width: 1.6" (40.7mm)
· Diameter: 1.97" (50mm)
· Stock Response: .555 Vapor Pad (also takes large size)
· Friction Response Groove Inside Diameter: .555" (14.1mm)
· Gap Width: .167" (4.24mm)
· Bearing Size: Large (C) stainless steel (One Drop 10 Ball Bearing)
Feel- The Project feels great in the hand. The finish is very nice & slick.. its just got a great feel when its in your hand. “these things are obnoxiously strong also” Colin would stand on the yoyo and spin to unscrew it at pnwr. JJ stood on one “jj’s a big guy 300lbs+” and the yoyo was still playable try that with your oxy 4 or your 888… Sterling Quinn was playing OS with one, we could not kill one of these things. The project is defiantly a quality product.
Stock Play- The project plays tug responsive out of the box “due to the dual vapor pads” the bearing is quite capable of playing unresponsive once the pads break in. It’s very smooth no vibe no wobble, easily comparable to the 888,G5,tank,alph… so in other words, its pretty darn smooth. Plays wonderfully for a stock yoyo. and you don’t need to clean the bearing!!! It’s dead silent also.
Adjustments- My Project is currently set up to play unresponsive so I have. A cleaned lightly lubed “with a fp10-yyj thin hybrid lube” one drop 10 ball bearing. One vapor pad. And a bright green polyester highlight yoyo string. “I find my project plays best set up like this.”
Adjusted Play- After my small adjustments it plays unresponsive and dead silent. Smooth as butter. The yoyo can easily handle multiple layers of string. The gaps pretty huge. Not 888 big but its still quite large. Works well for whips and slacks all your strings just seem to fall into place. Incredibly stable “this yoyo reigns over all yoyo’s when it comes to stability” No tilt, vibe or wobble, no problems at all. Its merciful on bad throws, this yoyo flops really well also. The weight is great it’s a really speedy yoyo. The axle system in the project is really cool its great due to the fact that you didn’t ruin your yoyo if you over tightened it “ive never had overtightening problems with any yoyo before but some of you might” you have to keep the project TIGHTLY SCREWED TOGETHER or the yoyo will randomly fly apart on a throw. Its great being able to know that you didn’t just ruin your 85 dollar yoyo if you overtightend it you can just go get a new nut and an axle and your set. I thought it was a great idea!!!
Response system- I really like these vapor pads it plays like silicone without the 24 hours of not being able to play with your yoyo. sure it’s a little more expensive than a tube of flowable but it wont randomly fall out on you. Or get bubbles or cause all the pain silicone can cause sometimes. I really enjoy them except.. the adhesive on the back of them isn’t very strong so the pads will slip after playing it for a couple days “easily fixed with a can of spray on adhesive and some goo-gone” all in all the response system is great!!!
Finish- the finish on the project cut strings right when I got it “this only lasted for the first string. I haven’t had any problems since, the finish is very smooth and blemish free. Its got a somewhat dusty feel to it “sorta like the Anti-yo finish or a bb/anno finish” looks great. Nice quality durable finish also.
Grinds- this yoyo is one of the best grinders I’ve ever used and I’ve used some of the best grinders out there “Eetsit, Bape. Pyro, BBB Radian,” and this is easily on par with the anti-yo finish. Thumb grinds are great “it dosent have a massive hub to get in your way either” finger grinds are amazing “probably due to the soda blast/anno/ groove combo thing going on” its very capable of every grind you throw at it.”
Recommendation- this is a really sweet yoyo. unequaled durability & craftsmanship, Amazing play, great shape and weight & speed, its capable of anything you throw at it… every now and then you will find a yoyo that just seems to click with you and you finally found your “holy grail of yoyo’s” now I realize this isn’t incredibly limited or anything like that. But this yoyo defiantly clicked with me. It’s my personal favorite yoyo. the one drop guys and especially Colin did a great job on this yoyo. I’m really looking forward to another release from these guys. I’ll be buying one for sure!! For the 85-86 bucks you pay.. it’s a great deal I really enjoy this yoyo.. I feel this is a yoyo every yoyoer should have in his case due to its general awsomeness. Seriously get one, you will not be disappointed I’m sure of it.

Good review, you were talking about the black marks, I think that is because of the sodablasting process.

meh, to me the project is still just an 888 with a steeper angle.

I got mine yesterday, and it vibes. It is still very much a player, but hearing how smooth everyone elses is leaves something to be desired.

"Cool: The ability to write one's name or handle illegibly in black sharpie on a variety of surfaces."

Tox, I would try to get in touch with one drop, I'd be willing to bet that they'd replace yours....

Ok Guys.. the black marks were alot like... when you are in black shoes and you scuff the floor in them.. theres a big black streak.. its nothing wrong with the finish at all.. its just kina dirty thats all it all whipes off with a wet towel or a wet napkin....
and yes... the quotes are my personal oppinion and slight input on things..

my review is simple.
If you played with a DV8 and liked it, you'll love the Project.
Similar Shape, nice slick finish, and no foolish tuning.
Great yo.

I like this yoyo a lot. I haven't had a single problem with it, or had to adjust or tune or modify or replace anything in it.
I could elaborate, but in the end, the above are really the only things that can be said in a review that can't be shown in pictures.
