For those that haven't heard yet, the Wrist Mount Project is my attempt to make a looong instructional video on just what can be done with a wrist mount.
I've been working hard to get this done "enough" to release for the holidays and it looks like I'm finally there! The video itself is done (weighing in at just under 35mins). The instructional text page is half-way there. I'll fill in the rest of that in the coming days.
So, check out the site and let me know what you think (be sure to see the notes on the main page if you have trouble playing it). Hope you enjoy my little Christmas gift to the yo-yo world. :)

Thanks for the kind words guys. :) 158 d/ls so far, so it seems like a success (especially considering the large size of the file).

Best. Video. Ever.
Seriously, raises the bar for all future efforts. I sincerely thank you for your effort.
<edit> One thought for you would be to separate it into 4 files for the 4 sections...make it a bit easier to download, also to make the scan bar from trick to trick more accurate. </edit>

Just wanted to let everyone know that I finally added XviD and MPEG-1 versions of the project online. I also linked directly to the files and put the "if the video doesn't play" info onto a separate page to make things cleaner. I renamed the original mp4, but it is the same file.

Well.. I'd considered subtitles (at least for the titles of the tricks), but there is some technical issues. MP4 does support muxed in subtitles, but support for that in players is mixed (for instance QuickTime generally has trouble) while mpeg-1 and avi don't support internal subs at all. I could have external subs, but that's another file for people to keep track of and probably more software to install to get it to work. I figured with H.264 push, it'd be too much to ask to install vsfilter too.
I do still think that could be a good idea for translation, though, as theoretically someone would put more work in to get stuff in their own language. But I haven't heard any interest in translation as of yet. Probably enough people can deal with english in titles at least.
Now, as for your actual suggestion of the text itself, that could be cool, but I'm not sure that it'd actually work in practice. My text tends to be kind of verbose (I tried to have the video and text work as well as possible on their own) and I'm not sure that it'd fit on the screen well considering the length of some of the tricks. It'd also be a lot of manual work to do. The titles and such got generated as part of the editing process (the whole video is scripted in Avisynth), but since you'd have multiple "pages" for each trick to fit in all the text, it'd have to be manually timed out. I need to finish the third and fourth sections first anyway, but if you want to experiment, Aegisub is really good..
What I may do, though, is make the text available in some printable formats like pdf or docbook so it can be printed out. That way you could have it with you when watching or take it with you as a cheat sheet (especially if you can't yo-yo where the computer is).

This is the clearest and best qualityest trick help video i ever seen on net.
Tricks are shown so clear that u can't really do wrong.
That is so awesome I salute u
The only thing I didn't liked was that it doesnt have other tricks just that wrist stype variations etc.
Although i know that was the whole idea more likely:)
But thats truly only negative thing on this!
This is so
gonna help me much 2!!!
video! Worth of download for sure!!!!
