Thread: Finished this bad boy today...

Diameter is about 54mm
Width is about 40.5mm

I'm going to use the scale at school tomorrow to see what it weighs. I'm guessing around 67g.

I was trying to get more rim weight and to make a more exotic shape this time around. Tell me what you think!

Edit: 63 grams is the official weight. Time to get my guess-o-meter recalibrated...

Has anyone thought of using side effects on their plastics yet? Seems like a good idea... Then again I don't know the whole construction of side effects....

I'd play around with it, but I don't have any. My guess is that it wouldn't work because the side effects are made for a metal with thin walls.

Looks good. I like the shape, and it looks like you did a good job with it. How does it play?

When tuned, I'd say it's about as smooth as a YYJ without the solid spin stuff. It feels stable, and moves relatively fast for how solid it feels.

The walls do, indeed, have to be too thin.

Is there any reason that the walls can't be thicker? Or is it not so much the upraised part it locks into that needs to be thin as it is the bearing seat or some such?

It's a matter of the distance between the inner edge of the side effect and the bearing seat, coupled with my not having a CNC lathe to be able to produce a proper SE hole. What I ended up doing was getting a longer set screw so that I could use SPR spacers and the side effects, which rendered the bearing post on the SEs nonfunctional.

That looks like a very nicely turned yo-yo. It has great craftsmanship and a nice looking shape.
