well I decided to make a few pictures to explain a few things, and they'll also give you some basic photographic knowledge.
So you just got that new yoyo and you just want to take a pic and show it off because it's uber coolness is something the whole world should see.
Find a clean background
where's the yoyo?
Focus the yoyo
OMG what that?!?! FUR STUFF!
Exposure
Under Exposed
Two ways to fix this problem, slower film/iso speed. Or if you have control over it, smaller F-stop, this will decrease your DOF(Depth of field, how much is in focus).
Over Exposed
Faster film/iso speed, or higher F-stop needed.
Flash
There are right and wrong ways to use flash. The one below is a wrong way to use flash. It should not be your only light sorce, use it to increase light(fill flash). Shadows look bad and are distracting
wow your cap is scratched
Lighting
Backlighting and other lighting can make your pic just a little more interesting to look at.
Then finally the fun part... that perfect yoyo picture
wow, that's amazing!
My base board is the background a piece of computer paper has covered my brown carpet.

I've always wondered what the F-stop setting did. I'll try that out next week on some of my collection...
Quick! I need some whipped cream, a tape recording of any early Bee Gees song, and a votive candle. I gotta fix my flat tire before rush hour!

No flash for the perfect picture I had enough light coming from the window above and reflecting off my lockers to light the pic

Nice work, Sarah.
One point I would add is that for online viewing, resolution should not be higher than the 72-75 dpi range. Higher than 75 dpi does not improve the appearance when viewed on a computer monitor. (According to HP photo guides)

I could be wrong about this, but I believe that for online viewing the computer will just display it at its own resolution, in a pixel-to-pixel size. That is, if the picture is 150x150 at 300dpi, it'll display as 150x150 at 72dpi (which is about two inches), but will print out as a 1/2" square at 300dpi on the printer. It's all rather complicated and I don't know all that much about it, but I think the resolution isn't important for onscreen stuff.

how do i make sure that the file size is within the boards limits? any tips one the size of photo, resolution and type of file? mine always seem to be too big. when i resize and lessen the quality the picture looks blurry and bad quality.

if you set all your camera settings to normal/medium it gives you enough room to crop with out having bad quality or anything afterwords.

Sounds excellent. PM me when you do it and I'll sticky it and remove this one (probably kill off my lame one at the same time).
