I just got a new Lyn fury about a week ago and it works great but I noticed when I change my strings after a few throws there will be black marks on the string as if its really dirty. Could it potentially be the bearing grease dirtying the string? I have not cleaned the bearing yet.

Is it actually the part of the string that is going around the bearing that's getting dirty or just abover that? Because it could be the o-rings.

It is mostly the loop around the bearing but when the string gets pulled back to my hand it will also have dark spots on random spots up to the slipknot.

Does it have black o-rings (the rings around the bearing that create friction on the string)? Sometimes yoyos with black response pads or o-rings can make strings dirty, but I don't know if YYJ switched the response system for the Lyn Fury (it used to be black rubber rings, but a lot of their newer yoyos have a different type of response pad now).
Are the black marks more concentrated at the end of the string where the string connects to the bearing? It could be from the bearing, especially if you notice anything on the bearing (like traces of lube/grease that have leaked out) when you take the yoyo apart. It shouldn't be too much of an issue, though. Strings can get fairly dirty after a while normally and still play ok. If a string gets dirty enough to bother you but still has some life in it, you can wash it by throwing it in with a load of laundry. It won't make the string play like new or restore the spring to it, but it should clean it off.

Yeah it has the double o ring response system. And I have not noticed anything leaking out of the bearing but I will keep an eye on it. Yeah I just wanted to check and see of others had this problem and if there was a way to prevent it but thanks anyways!

It's the o-rings. You can swap those o-rings out for flowable silicone.

Would taking them out affect responsiveness? I popped them out and tried to play with them out but the string wouldn't grab at all and I couldn't wind it up. So I'm cautious as to whether or not it would do that.

You need some sort of response to get the yoyo to come back up. Silicone is an option. Another is to just keep the o-rings in. That black coloration on the string isn't harming anything.

Okay I was just wondering because I have been throwing alot lately and with the o rings in the string will be white to gray in like 10 minutes of throwing.

Really - that discoloration isn't harming the string.
