I have a SR71 and I think its the greatest. Im very old school and like a super responsive yoyo. Im thinking of making my own response pads, what should I make them out of? Are there responsive pads I can buy, if so who makes them?
Thanks for all the help and encouragement!

Since the SR71 has the YYJ Solid Spin Axle, I would recommend getting one of the YYJ narrow bearings; The ones that come w/ most new YYJs.
They can be found at most of the major online stores under Yoyojam Bearings

I have a sr71 also. Didnt it come with the responsive bearing? Its the one with no shields.
Mine came with the responsive bearing in the yoyo and had a ziplock bag with the unresponsive. I dont think you would want to put pads on it. I think you would ruin the recessed response. It would get all gummed up with the glue from the pads.
Try to thick lube the bearing. The one with no shields.
Its my new fav yoyo !
Sometimes I put the responsive bearing in for fun.
good luck

The SR71 comes with the white/clear silicone response rings that sit fairly flush in the shell. You could just replace them with regular rubber o-rings that sit somewhat above the surface. They are a stock item at most hardware stores. If you can find the red silicone ones they will be a bit grabbier than the black ones.
Also lubing the bearing will make it more responsive, as will the narrower bearing.

Thanks, I have the narrow bearing in. I just want to be able to keep it working the way it does now. For me it's perfect!
Thanks again for all the info.
