I tighten mine all the way, and it doesn't vibe, even thought the arrows are not aligned.

Stop worrying about what yoyo you should be playing, and just play yoyo. (pssst I am not Landon)

I have found that the arrows don't matter much.
As said above, tune it to your liking.

With my Protostar I can get the arrows to align but it takes some heavy twisting. I feel like I might be over tightening it when I do it so sometimes I don't align the arrows up and it still plays the same.

I contacted YYF when I first got my Protostar because a thread pulled out of the nut almost immediately and I was concerned about the force it took to line up the arrows. Here is the response I received:
Neil,
The resistance you are feeling when screwing the halves together is typical of the Protostar. The reason we put the arrows on the halves is because the halves need to be completely tightened together in order to eliminate as much of the vibe as possible. With the first run of Protostars (no arrows on the halves) people were not screwing the halves together far enough because they were scared of stripping the yo-yo (due to the resistance). The arrows are to show people that you can tighten the yo-yo far enough to line up the arrows without injuring the yo-yo.
I hope this helps and again, I appreciate the email.
All the best,
Patrick Mitchell

When I first had my protostar I had the same problem, but I always pushed it to make the arrows meet, now it gets the arrows aligned a little too easy and it actually goes past it without much force
