So I have access to probably countless spools of polyester thread, the current spool I have is "Lubricated Polyester." I'm attempting to make my own string with this (I know how to make string by the way) and am finding that it seems to like slipping around the finger, and if I'm not careful, the string possibly could come off the finger. Does poly string normally do that, or is this because it's lubricated (maybe lube will wear off)? I do find that this string on my Zombie has made it pretty much unresponsive and friction is much less with multiple wraps. Lastly, would you recommend 100% poly on the Maverick, or perhaps a cotton/poly blend? I'm hearing that they eat cotton strings for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Some poly will do that. Especially if you have a nylon mix. I think I would forget the lubed string all together.
Poly is great on anything but loopers. For me cotton works best there.

I don't care much for 100% poly. I prefer slick 8 for pretty much everything, though cotton is best for looping. Yes, cotton wears fast in most any environment. You just have to watch it, and listen for the telltale strand snapping.

I'd try a double loop around the finger if you decide to keep using the lubricated poly. I found Alchemy string to be quite slippy (I think it has nylon, which Ichthus noted is pretty slippery), and the double loop solved the problem.
At least 15% of what I say is true.

Just got some regular "dry" poly (not lubed) and there's still some slip but not nearly as much as nylon. Got 2 large spools of this stuff free so no complaining here. Now, I'm just waiting for my Maverick to come in and try it out on that.
