The satin (to me) isn't really about how it looks. although there are some guy's like Ricerocket that can do a spiral satin very nicely. It's more function. Satined yo's tarnish fastser too.

O Thanks for the info, ya my alph is kinda oxidizing right now so I might even anodize it or just polish it but although it looks like poop it grinds like a beast so I was just wondering if I do it correctly.

Well when I satin attach the axle of one half with the machine so it spins an then I use sandpaper to satin it. But, the other half doesn't have an axle so I need an extra one. And I don't understand what you mean by wrapping the current one with couple layers of duct tape.

Find a screw w/the same thread size and use that. Take it to a hardware store and see what fits. If nothing fits in US std threads, try a metric.
If it's std US threads it will likely be a 6x32, 8x32, 10x24 or a 1/4-20 thread. If it's metric it will probably be 4mm x .7mm.
Of course you could just ask the guy that makes them and get the size directly so you don't have to hunt around. Then go to the hardware store and get the right size right off.

Is there some sort of issue with removing the axle from one half and putting it in the other?

The layers of duct tape are to protect the axle. It is easy to damage them when you tighten a chuck down on them.
The axle is just a setscrew that both halves screw onto. After you tighten the chuck down on the axle and you satin one half, unscrew the half from the axle. Screw the other half onto the axle and repeat.

To remove the axle:
If you've figured out the axle size, get two nuts that will fit. Screw one on part way, screw the other one down tight against it. Use a small wrench on the one closest to the yoyo shell and turn it out like any other screw.
