Well I just got back from my grandfather's machine shop, he's got this... massive metal lathe, huge mechanical parts and computerized... nonsense.

Well I got him to understand what a silicone recess was and I got him to make one in my alph, however I'm not too sure he took it deep enough to hold the silicone. Really... I'm not too sure he even measured the wall before he started cutting, only guessing the actual thickness of the wall.

So far as he says there's .030" of wall left, however I'm not too sure I believe him. I know he knows what he's doing but he was kind of half out of it. He just got out of the hospital. Granted the cut he made was... perfect. He's a seasoned old salt with machining tools but ehhh... I'm just sort of cycling this in my head a bit.

Still though if it doesn't hold silicone I've considered getting Icthus to repay his favor to me by highwalling it, leaving a pad recess with a lip and leaving it at that.

Ladies and Gents, the Blueberry Alph.

I looks like an AMAZING recess job. But if you get that one throw that kicks the silicone out. Oh man... Sad face moment.

Eh, not really. Getting it pad recessed would just mean a similar feel with some silicone stickers. The bummer would be waiting the week or so getting it back.

I'd like to point out that 0.03" is less than a millimeter of thickness.. that's way, way thin.

..tread carefully and you should be ok I suppose

I'll be measuring it myself tomorrow. The yoyo is playing and performing amazingly and the silicone is staying in well enough, for now.

There's no way to know whether it will stay in for one day or indefinitely.

I've sort of deduced that even though we almost wrecked the yoyo, and even though the silicone might tear out in less than 24 hours.... there should be laws against how amazing this yoyo is.

This is the smoothest, best performing, most perfect throw I've ever tossed and I've tossed anything from an Oxy 4, to peaks to Difs and yoyofactories.

This is the Nirvana, guys. This is the yoyo we all hope to own one day. The one that is just right for us. The perfect throw for my preferences.

Jesus Christ, I hope this silicone doesn't tear out. Then again my silicone jobs are pretty tenacious, it took me almost an hour to get all of the silicone out of one half of my internal turmoil.

I think he's referring to the fact that there's less than a millimeter of wall left and that that's dangerously thin, not that the silicone may fall out.

The caution that he's suggesting is not to ding it or to put any pressure on the walls because it could break.

According to kyo last night on the chat, if I had cut it that deep then the recess would've been at least a mm deep and I know it isn't that deep... it's barely deeper than a spyder recess.

    That's pretty awesome looking.

    .030"? Wow. That's around .7mm thin, .7!

Yeah it's still in, working great. If it ever falls out, I'll take kyo's advice and see about dove-tailing the recess a bit to give the silicone an edge to hang on to.
