ok, so ive tried to silicone my addict a couple times, and it hasnt worked, i tried clear, and it just wore right out in a couple throws, so i let it sit for a while, and just thought forget it, ill throw some pads in it next time i order a yo, well, its been a few months, and i still havent, and i really wanna silicone it, so i tried red, let it cure for 12 hours this time, and it worked great, this was yesterday, and today, im at work on my break and i started throwing it, and after a few throws the silicone fell out....

so now i bought clear flowable silicone, and im trying it, any advice on anything else i can do to ensure that the silicone sticks this time?

I'm sure the silicone isn't sticking because the recess is not deep enough. Thin difs are flush on the addict right? Which means the recess is only .15 compared to the .4 needed to stick decently.

You could start off by letting it cure for 24 hours like the directions say to do.

and you should use red RTV gsket maker silicone instead of the clear flowable, because it sticks better. Iwas able to silicone my addict with the red silicone, but not with the clear one, because it didn't stick well enough.
the red stuff came out after about a month and a half, though. but it played really nicely.

The addict recess isnt deep enough for siliconing, unless you do a recess mod yourself but on a metal yoyo its a lot harder and riskier. So i guess its better to stick with pads for this yoyo. :\

come on luke v....in this day and age of yo yoin', you know no one has the patience to read directions. i mean the instant gratification of unresponsive play has made the yo yo game a 'give it to me now' kind of thing.

w/ that said, pls. take note everyone. one of the reasons why luke v. is such an accomplished modder/machinist is because...well, he reads the directions.

Maybe then you should pop for the silicone stickers. It seems that the recess isn't deep enough, though some people seem to have had some luck. Have you cleaned the recess well before you applied the silicone? Lighter fluid would work real nice.

lighter fluid may leave some petroleum residue. after you clean it with that, rub with a little alcohol on a cue tip or cotton ball for a perfectly clean area.
