    hi

i cleaned my bearing of my fh2 and when it was clean it would spin on a pencil for over 20 seconds. after some drying i added just the tinyest pindrop of yoyojam thin lube and now the bearing will only spin for 4 seconds on the pencil.

i cant possibly apply less lube, but the bearing still makes a sound as if it would be clean

did i do something wrong ? did i have to wait longer with applying the lube or should i trow the yo for a day to get it back to top shape ?

    thanks

I'm just wondering, would it be harder to take the shields off on a duncan bearing because they're smaller?

it can be, but any size can be difficult because every bearing is different...I've had some that were hard to remove and some that are a snap, no matter what size...sometimes the c-clip wont stay in one place when you're trying to pry it out and that can make things very difficult...

the only bearing that was extremely difficult for me to deshield because of it's size has been the small bearings that come in Buzzon's...those are usually terrible, but the newer ones have a different type of shield that doesnt require removing a c-clip and they're super easy to remove...

so to sort of answer your question, yes and no

you've got to consider that the same sized drop will actually be bigger in a Duncan bearing than it is in a YYJ bearing because of the size of the bearing, if that makes sense...and because of this, I usually never lube Duncan bearings (for myself anyways)

either reclean it and try again, give it a few days for the lube to break in, or just run it dry...

other things may be causing it to be responsive as well such as string thickness, gap setting, new stickers, etc...

    hope this helps...

thx for the reply. ye i get what you were saying about it being "more" lube then in a yoyojam. i`ll clean it again.. im just afraid that if i dont lube it i`ll wreck my bearing :/ but i`ll keep on tossing it and hope for the best for now. if it wont get better i`ll clean it and keep it clean

Can you dip the needle in the lube instead of putting a drop of lube on the needle?

huh? o-ring? are you talking about c-clip?

it would help if you told us what yo-yo this bearing came in or where you bought it. most bearings have c-clips... some dont (but in very rare cases). look more carefully

alot of times, they're just REALLY hard to see...try looking at it with a magnifying glass just to be sure...if they're really not there, you'll have to pry the shields off with a tiny screwdriver or something similar...

well, I dont remember enough about my Miroc to be 100%, but I guess AnY uses bearings without the clips...so like I suggested before, take a tiny screwdriver or something similar and pry at the shield near the inner race of your bearing...just be sure to not insert whatever you're using too deep or else you'll damage or pry out the ball cage inside and screw up your bearing...

I guess it sounds more difficult than it really is, but it's actually a little easier to do than prying out the c-clips sometimes...it's also easier to screw it up, so just be careful...

also note that by using this method, you wont be able to put the shields back on...

    hope this helps...
