first of all what kind of string are you using? is it new or old string? is there anything that could rub the string around the bearing? andy burrs on the edges of the bearing? a heavier yo may induce more snapping but im not certain.
answering these questions will better help us help you!
i havent had any problems with breaking string on all metal yo's except once with a 9X9 string snapping at the slip knot. if you arent yet, try using a 50/50 string. the consensus by most is that they are stronger and break less frequently.
good luck

Its because of the flames
The more you play it, the more the harshness of the way they're made will wear off, and they wont snap strings as much.KWC | Team B.I.O. UK

I broke about 57 strings my first day with the pyro. I've heard that you can rub the flames with a t-shirt or something to sort of round out the edges. Great yoyo after that breakin though.About once every three years I think about buying a yo-yo. I'll be at the store and I'll come upon the yo-yo section and I'll fantasize about mastering it to the point where it becomes a reference as to who I am. -Mitch Hedberg

It says on the hspin website that you need to break it in or rub it with a cloth or something. Its in the faqs thing.

I use 100% poly strings and it only broke once for me. But, the only reason it broke is because somehow the string got caught between the yo half and the bearing.

yeah..its cuz of the flames. i only broke 3 strings so far..and it was the one that came on it, and 2 polys before it was broken in good....and becuz of that..i got 2 nice dings on both sides....stay away from asphalt. once its broken in good, it wont eat strings, havent broken one with mine in a month and change.

well duncan string is 100% cotton. yeah i broke a ton of strings when i first had m pyro. luckily i was over carpet the entire time. but yeah becuase of the finish it takes a while to wear in.

i go through about 1 poly string a week w/ my pyro...maybe 10 days if i yo less than an hour/day w/ it.
i don't know about wearin' down the flame area. goin' at it w/ a shirt or something else...seems like a recipe for disaster (though i'm sure there are some success stories out there, this is just IMO). i say all things w/ time...
poly (50/50, also) is really the only way to roll a pyro. hspin makes a point of pointing this out.
