Yup, Jolly Ole St. Nick brought me a Wide Sport. First off, I'd like to say that I LOVE this yo. It is truly amazing.
However, there is something that seems alittle odd. When ever I throw it I hear a skidding sound, probably the baring. I'm kinda concerned because I haven't done a thing to it. I didn't get it from TheYoStore, so I don't know if ther bearing is clean and running dry or not. My question is should I clean it and then lightly lube it or ignore the sound and keep on truckin'? I haven't ever had a KK'd yo befor so maybe they just make the skidding sound, your all's knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any help, and incase he reads this, thanks Frank for making such a yo-yo.

Make sure the pads arent rubbing the bearing. If that isnt the problem then you would want to clean the bearing and lightly lube it.

do you have any other all metal yo's? I'm thinking that what you're hearing is a combination of the different sound that a KK makes and the difference in the way a plastic and all metal yo sound...
in my experience, each brand has a certian sound and metal yo's just sound alot different from each other and different than plastic yo's altogether...
Dif's have a certian tone to them...
Fluchs have a certian tone...
Oxy's definitely have a different tone...
chances are, if you dont have any metal yo's, you're just hearing the difference in materials...it also wouldnt hurt to trouble shoot it a little like abunai suggested just to be sure though...

my BareBones made that sound when i first got, and it still does. But i would clean it and stuff anyway.
If i was in WWII they'd call me SPITFIRE!

My GTO makes a sound also. It has never caused me any problems.
It's probably what Luke talked about.

The KK comes lubed with a light oil. The more you play with it the longer and better it will spin.
If you like the way it's playing just leave it .. play it and keep fresh string on it.
It will start to spin longer and become less responsive the more you use it.
The noise is the echo of the balls in the bearing through the aluminum.. which as you might know is shaped like a bell and in turn amplifies the sound..
The sound will be more noticable with out the rim weight rings and less noticable when they are in because they dampen the ringing effect.

Yes, this is my first metal yo-yo, so that is probably it. I hadn't had much expirience with them before.
Well, since I really love how it plays now, I think I'll just leave it alone. If any problems arise, which I don't think they will, I'll just give the bearing a good cleaning.
Thanks for all the help, you guys are great. I mean how many places can you ask a question about something and have the guy who designed and built it answer?
