I make my own string, so I save a lot of money that way. I just realized that, and so I thought, hey, a lot of other people could save money too!So here are the instructions.
Materials:
1. Candle Wicking Thread (ask your mom if she has any-she probably will. It is string with 4 strands that are easily separated.)
2. Ruler AND measuring tape
3. Drill
4. Wire coat hanger
5. Hook in the wall
6. Popsicle stick
So here's what you do-
1-Measure 18 feet with the tape measure, and cut the candle wicking thread to 18 feet.
2-Separate the string with the ruler. THIS IS THE TRICKY PART! MAKE SURE THAT THE STRING IS SEPARATED IN THE MIDDLE, SO THERE ARE NOW TO LENGTHS OF STRING, EACH WITH TWO STRANDS OF STRING!!
3-Alrighty then, at both ends of both sections, tie a knot.
4-With the coat hanger, cut a 3-4 inch length and make a hook with it. Make the straight end have about and inch before the bend starts.
5-Put the straight end of the hook into the drill. You now have a yo-yo bit!![]()
6-Now take a string section, and hook one end around the drill bit, and one end around the wall hook.
7-Now spin the drill, depending on the speed, for 2 minutes CLOCKWISE!!!
8-When the two minutes are spent, stop the drill. Now carefully unhook the drill end of the string, hold it tightly, and put the popsticle stick in the middle of the string. Now bring the hand end of the string over and hook it to the wall hook. You may need someone to help you here. Now grab the end with the popsicle stick and hook it around the drill bit.
9-Now spin at the same speed COUNTERCLOCKWISE, but use the popsickle stick and slowly move it down the string to the wall to keep a uniform twist all the way down.
10-Now grab the wall hook end with one hand and unhook the drill end with your other hand. Let the string unravel. You can grab the string and run your hand down to make it unravel faster. It will eventually stop at the nuetral twist. Now unhook the string from the wall, tie the loop, cut off any extra string, and put it on your yo yo!
Enjoy your new string, and if you need clarification, PM me.
