Thread: Praise for and a request of The Yo Store

We are allowed to talk about international yo-yo web stores on this board. In a recent thread I started I talked about yoyoz quite a lot, so much so that I've started to feel guilty for doing so. So I feel compelled to state the following:

As Mike has stated in previous posts, The Yo Store carries a limited selection of yo-yos because Mike will only buy yo-yos that are offered in quantity at a reduced price to him, so he can offer them up at a reduced price to us while still making some money. As a small business, this is extremely smart. There is no point in Mike buying yo-yos that the vendor wants $99 a piece for when the MSRP is $100. I assume and hope Mike is not here to make $1 per yo-yo.

In short, Mike only gets "deals" and "bargains" and passes the savings along to us.

This is why should The Yo Store offer up a yo-yo I want, I buy it from them. NO ONE (even foreign web stores our dollar is strong against) beats Mike's prices.

Mike is quick to price match. When another store slashed its prices on PMGs a while back, Mike followed suit that same day. When another store put its 09 888s on sale for YYF's 5th anniversary, so did Mike... only that other store went back to $120 after the anniversary week was over and Mike's 09 888s still sit here for $105, $15 cheaper than anyplace else.

During the first week the Jamboo was available Mike offered free shipping on it.

At request Mike even switches yo-yo halves. When the first two batches of the Superstar came out in solid gold and solid red, the board made jokes about making a red/gold Superstardust / Iron Man Superstar and Mike did it. When the Winston Superstar came out in blue and orange and I wanted an all blue one, a simple PM to Mike got me what I wanted.



And now for the request. Sometimes other stores put a new, hot item up for sale a few days before The Yo Store. This happened with the Mighty Flea. I was all hot and bothered to get one ended up buying one somewhere else before The Yo Store started selling them as I didn't know The Yo Store would be selling them. I feel guilty about this. I would rather my money have gone to Mike.

So Mike, in order to avoid this, would you consider putting a sticky post in this forum that's something like "Stuff that might be coming to The Yo Store"? It could be locked with only your original post, and you could update/edit that post as needed. What I'm really driving at is a "Don't buy any of these things elsewhere as The Yo Store will probably sell it" list.

It doesn't have to be exact. It doesn't have to make mention of deals you're working out. But if you know you've got incoming inventory of an item, it would be nice to know it (and have that info in an easy to find, consolidated thread) so you can maximize the amount of money you'll get out of me

Thanks thats a very good thing to know. I didn't realize Mike will price match. I guess it shows that it never hurts to ask.

I've only done business once with Mike (my last yoyo related purchase), but it was enough to convince me that I'll stick with his store as long as he has the products I'm looking for (he usually does).

He is fast and courteous. He is also a fellow Hawaiian, so I'll stick with the local guys ^^

Mike usually announces new releases in this section when he gets something new. He doesnt usually post about any of it until he has confirmation that it's on it's way to him or until he has it in hand. Do a search in this section for threads started by YoMike and you'll see what I mean.

Making a sticky thread sounds like a good idea on the surface, but history proves that stickies go unnoticed and unread for the most part. Much easier to grab someone's attention with a smoking hot new post usually.

$15 cheaper on 09 888's and $5 cheaper on Torrents just made me a happy guy.

I agree with Luke. It helps me, at least, to get the news of a new yoyo at the Yo Store when I see it on the side of "Yoyo Discussion" on the home page of the forum. I almost never look at stickies anymore.

I love how Mike says, "<insert name of big fancy smancy hot new j0j0 here> up at TheYoStore now!!!!", on the Discussion board. Makes me say, "OH! I have been meaning to try one of those <insert name of same big fancy smancy hot new j0j0 here>! I guess I will buy one from here! Thanks YoMike!" *cue inspirational music*

Didn't anyone notice that TheYo board is what I work the hardest on?
If you ever go into business remember, a solid base will always be there making it a much easier time of it.

Mike changed the price of the Stackless PGM for the whole industry. YYN and YYG were selling stackless for like mid 20s, then mike changed it to 18 boom..I love the theyo store.
