Thread: G5 question..and a pad question too

let me start off by saying i can't wait for the G5 sabatoge to drop! ok for my first question...
since this will be my first G5 how small is it in terms of size?...is it like Dark Magic huge?...mini motu tiny? or the perfect hitman/xconvict size?

second/ my question is whether or not these pads that come with the g5 would be grabby on sloppy lacerations or suicides? cuz i play my yoyojams dead unresponsive with the gaps as wide as possible(2 red shims)/bearings thin lubed/and orings shaved... and this makes space for alot of slopy play without the yoyo bitting back...so will i be able to play the g5 like that stock?

p.s. ive never used a yoyo with any sort of high maintence response ..i like that i dont have to change an oring or a starburst!

the stock pad is i believe thin dif pads, and with the huge recess, they really really wont be grabby at all, it actually will be pretty tough to get it to come back without slipping the next throw, trust me, the only way url get it remotely grabby is if you silocone it... which i happen to like. Sooo, if you dont want any matinence, silicon it... trust me, it's awesome as for the size, i'd say on the middle size its pretty narrow in its width, but the diameter is kinda big, i really like it. sooo... i think that'll answer all your questions

but doesnt the Sabotage version have a flush sticker and not the really deep recess like the silvers did?

I think the Sabotage and Silvers have a deep recess, black has .030" (same as thick dif pad)

yeah, silver and Sabotage have deep spaces. the stealth isn't as deep, but i hear that the stealths play a tiny bit smoother. probably bull, but just throwing it out there.

Silver=.040 recess
Stealth=.030
Sabatoge=.030

0.3 isn't deep enough for silicone right?

For the recess being that wide, you would want it to be deeper than .03" for silicone. X-CONVICT siliconed his Stealth; one side ripped out in play, the other has worked fine, so I guess it can work, but it's not ideal depth and it might not work. He really likes the siliconed response on one side, though, so he might be able to give some tips for getting it to work.

are you sure about the Stealth? it has flush Dif pads, and thin Dif's are .15...

Its not really a new/old thing. The black ones have a shallower recess (.030) compare to the silver (.040). It gives better dif pad performance but will not hold silicon.

This is a process not a 'fixed' product so slight changes like this may occur with every release.

I'm prety sure the stealth has .30, and the silver and sabotage both have the same depth. (not sure what the depth is though.)

Dont the G5's have different radius/diameter diff pads too? Like the inner hole being bigger or something like that.

the sabatoge says it comes with "extra O rings" ...like yoyojam orings? or is that a typo? and do they really mean pads...can someone confirm this

it might be an extra set for the bearing caps?

The inner diameter of the difs is larger on the G5's. I would imagine Mike will start selling that size eventually, but you might want to PM him about it if you need replacements and not take my word for it. The o-rings aren't the response; I'm pretty sure they're for the bearing caps like asia said.
