My Mom bought me an 08 888 for my birthday and will always watch when I have a new trick to show someone. When my dad comes over he always says "Carson show me a new yoyo trick" "Now show me an offstring trick"
My parents see yoyoing as a hobby that is a positive outlet instead of doing drugs or fallinginto the wrong crowd haha.

My mom despises it, and my dad kinda hates it. My mom thinks I should be preparing for ACT, SAT, subject tests, etc rather than playing with a stupid toy. This is why I have had my yoyos for less than 3 weeks.(I don't have them right now, and my mom says I get them back at the end of the semester...)

Well I'm a parent and I support my sons yoyoing 100% so much so, he got me into it. It's a lot of fun to hang out together and throw. I think if more parents just picked one up and started playing they would see just how much fun it is. My opinion is this: You only get so much time to do things with your kids before they grow up and are inundated with the reality of life. It goes by way to Fast!
So having said that, go teach your dad or mom to Yo. Don't be surprised if they start poaching your yo-yos when your not around.

Yes, I think "are you Asian?" would've been more appropriate. Parental expectations run high among the Asian cultures. Probably not a bad thing when it comes down to it.

WOW! dude that sucks your parents would take your Yo's. i bought all my Yo's but 1 and my parents said if i ever get grounded then i can still yoyo bc i paid for most/all my yoyo's/ yoyo stuff. i worked hard for my hobby. its not just a phase.... and they know its not just a phase. i have never stuck with a hobby for more then 1 year. other then Nitro RC Trucks but lets not get into that sense we are on a yoyo forum. but yess my parents support it bc they enjoy watching it and they love to see me do something else other then sit on the computer from 3 pm - 12am. idk how they feel about going to yoyo contest. i am sure if i wanted to go and i paid for gas then they would take me. i am gonna try to go to worlds this year. is my parents dont wanna go i am gonna try to go with ChrisNotes. so yess i would say they support my yoyoing 99%.

My mom is extremely supportive of yo-yoing, but my dad doesn't seem to like it so much. He says it takes away from sports. He kind of wants me to do sports all of the time instead.
My mom will take me anywhere for a contest or Strung-Out meeting.
