Thread: What got you into yoyoing...

Saw Doc Pop and Dave Bazan yoyoing on master of champions last year and went to walmart and bought a duncan butterfly. Hated it. Went and got a fast 201 and loved it. Shortly after bought a fhz and just kept going from there.

Geeze. I dunno. There were periods after 7th grade where I would just have one to mess around with. Drop it for a while and pick it up again. Then once I was in college, I decided to kick it up a notch. Started looking around the net thinking about buying a dragonfly, as it is the same as the old TBBGT. Luckily, between the time I started thinking about buying one and the time I actually did, the FHZ was released. So I got that instead.

I found an old raider I had bought a few years back from an old run-down magic shop going out of buisness. I then found a yomega training zone VHS at goodwill, so i bought it. I spent 2 weeks working on stuff, but nothing came from it. I went online and went to youtube and typed in "yoyo" I found FNG's "guide to yo" and had thought it was a friend of mine from florida who at the time looked exactly like FNG. I then watched it, and thought, " wow! That's amazing!!" I then found theyostore.com, and then the forum. I soon found out that FNG was a member here! then even better yet! I found out he only lived about half an hour if that away from me!!!! It was cool. I was kinda creeped out at first, but you know, if your meant to do something, it comes to you. =P Here I am now, a year and 4 months later, completely addicted, and inspired still.

ok... long sory short, my friends thought that they were really good at yoyoing and i had to show them that they weren't... =) plus i was insanely bored at time and now i am hooked for quite awhile...

well, I had my imperial's and crud in third grade, and I got to where I could do everything but rock the baby. I got ticked and quit. then, my cousin's ordered some yoyos and were into it. they went online, and we looked at the duncan yoyos. I saw the dragonfly, and to make my cousins think I was cool, bought it. I thought it was amazing, I could do rock the baby!!, then I quit for a while. Then, this past year, I had one friend in my computer class. I had just met him, and he asks me," Do you know anything about yoyos?" I said I did. I went home, dug up my dragonfly, and went to his house. he had a cobra, and I tought him how to change his strings and crap. i showed him my mad rock the baby skillz, and we started to look on the internet for yoyos. We mostly found the dated sites, so we were under the impression that the cold fusion and the mondial were the best yoyos ever. Whatever, we dreamed of the cold fusion, and meanwhile he got a bumblebee. We competed with eachother alot. if he learned a trick, I had to learn a better one. about that time I joined dave's forum, as YoCreature. so, we both started to improve with the new information. We both decided to get renegades, and I got pretty good on it. up to buddhas revenge. then, being our cool selves, we found theyo. He is yoyoGOD096. Meanwhile, christmas came, and i asked for a gto. I got it, and he got a Big Ben. And, pretty much since then, we have yoyoed and advanced.

I hear ya!

Well, I used to be into sport kites, but when I was going to pick up some new string for my kites, I saw a yomega fireball. I thought "$10, what the heck!"(yes, $10) I quickly began looping and then got a speeder because of a recommendation. As soon as I got a speeder I learned butterflys are not good loopers and I also got a relic. Then I began practicing string tricks with my speeder and looping tricks with my relic.

Since everyone is giving more interesting stories:
I worked taking care of the animals in a zoo. One day, when I was cleaning the gorilla cage, I saw a gorilla playing with a yoyo. It was very entertaining and we quickly became friends. 'Pepe' and I grew a deep connection, almost brothers, but he was taken away from me by lung cancer. (which, coincidentally, was caused by the smokes I gave him) All that I had left of him was his yoyo, and I vowed to avenge his death by becoming a yoyo champion (thus, finding the cure to cancer)!

I've been locked in my studio apartment working 50 hours a week. I can't play my drums here. I spend most of my time alone.
I recently quit smoking cigarettes and eating junk food... so I needed something to do.
I was cleaning out my room, getting rid of everything I didn't want, and I came across my Saber Raider.
That was 3 weeks ago. I've been spying on you all since then. Now I've got an SFHG and I am working on Buddha's Revenge, Cold Fusion, and Poppin' Fresh. and i just broke my cover.

I had to do a project on an invention and I got yoyo. Upon my research I found this website and bought a speedmaker. I havn't stoped throwing yet.

i used to have a proyo II and a yomega X-brain during the boom.

For some reason i used to keep them on my desk and i'd just yo up and down over and over whilst say at my pc if i was bored or waiting for a download or something.

Then i saw mickeys 06 worlds freestyle, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rTgJcpAoz8

and thought it was REALLY cool, so i had a look around, see how much i would have to pay to pick it up. $15 seemed like an absolute steal so i went for it!

And here i am, ordered from Mike, and found this forum =)

i started back 5 years ago, you know, when everyone yoyo'ed.
then i stopped a month later
now, about 2 months ago, i watched mickey on youtube.....that was it.
i bought a kickside. loved yoyoing ever since. xD
