Thread: making unresponsive yoyos responsive

hi i am sorta new to yoyoing and i was wondering if theres any way to make some yoyos responsive such as the grind machine and hectic for example. please help me and let me know

You can make any yoyo responsive by adding lube to the bearing. If that doesnt add enough response, you can switch out the response for something a little more aggressive and grabby. You can even change to a thicker string.

Doing any of these or a combination of them will let you dial in the response to your preference.

I am still learning and I ran into the same issue. In reality the best option is to buy a responsive yo-yo that can be made more un-responsive as your abilities improve. I really like the FHZ or you can get a YYF Velocity. Both are around $20 or less. You would probably spend more on pads, bearings etc trying to make your current yo-yo's more responsive.

Thats why I love the 401k.

If Luke's advice doesn't do the trick, something that worked for me was to loop the string around the bearing more than once. When I was first learning to bind (on a very unresponsive yo) I had it looped around the bearing three times.
