Hey, I have a Duncan TransAxtion yo yo, and when I take it apart it looks like it is made to put friction discs or pads on it. At least it looks like it is to me. Question? How can I make a home made friction disc???? I can do a killer spleeper with this yo, but the return response is terrible and I would like to make it a better yo without spending alot on it, would like to just experiment with it. I figure that I will buy a couple good yo's once I have gotten a little better, and after x-mas. Give me some ideas if you have any and thank you for your time.

The "Friction Page" up top has the basic information for that...

Essentially you just want to find a reasonably durable, thin, grippy material that is preferably adhesive on one side. Medical tape is one idea, and while usually a poor sticker, it might be better suited to what you're looking for (just a little more response).

Tub treads, the ones to stop you slipping in the tub, also make interesting stickers. They don't have the grip of a real friction sticker (and after exhaustive tinkering by myself a month ago, I'm not sure anything does), but they work very well in adding some response and last a very long time.

Don't forget just adding more lube; it's the no-questions-asked quick path for more response. It depends on what exactly the response is lacking. More aggressive stickers (or just more stickers) are solutions to response systems that just don't work, say, if the gap is too wide. More lube helps smooth out a working system, say, if it doesn't respond quite as reliably as you'd like.

Friction stickers and their alternatives have been discussed many, many times on the forum, so some searching will find you some good information as well.
Quick! I need some whipped cream, a tape recording of any early Bee Gees song, and a votive candle. I gotta fix my flat tire before rush hour!
