WEEK #1
what are some ways that you guys practice. what works for you. as a newbie i find tips, and suggestions very helpfull in my quest to master the art of yoing.
i have just started a routine myself where at least once a day i do:
100-forward passes
100-aroung the worlds
100-sleepers
100-inside loops (one at a time)
i believe to progress i need to focus on the basics first. i'll keep doing this for a week and see how i'm doing. then i'll go ahead and change my routine with other tricks if i feel i'm ready.
so how do you guys practice?
week #2
well since it's shakira (don't ask) week, i'm going to put up my new training scedule for the comming up week.
25-double loops (kinda like how shikira loops with her body)
15-triple loops
50-breakaways
25-rock the shakiras (oops i mean babies)
25-eifel towers
10-hop the fences inside and out
p.s.
shakira, if by chance you read this, can you send me a autograph?
write:
shakira loves you twitchy
WEEK #3
okay this week i'm going to just focus on 2 things. i'm going to focus alot on my inside loops and a little on my trapezes. but in between this routine, i'm going to still work on braintwister, and skin the cat.
here it is:
200-single inside loops
100-double inside loops
50-triple inside loops
50-trapezes
what do you think?
WEEK #4 MONTH #1!
okay, it's time for me to come out with my new weeks practice list.
i'm at a point were i don't know what specificaly i want to do, so here's what i've got for now.
100-double loops
100-tripple loops
30-60mins.-practicing other tricks (i.e. braintwister, over the falls, over the shoulder. . .)
25-50-trapezes.
any suggestions, are appreciated.
WEEK #5
well i feel pretty damn proud of myself. as of today i have went an entire month practicing every single day for between 1-2 hours.
i'm getting sick of practicing all my loops, and i may be over doing it on my trapezes, so i'm defintly going to cut those down this week. also last week i had it so that i'd spend 30-60 mins. doing whatever i wanted, and that worked really well because it gave me the opportunity to learn new stuff, and brush up on some stuff, so i'll be doing more of that this week.
50-tripple loops (inside)
25-trapezes
60+mins-free
i'm going to continue practicing double or nothings, (it was cool, i pulled one off with my dad watching, and it completely stuned him, i was way proud.) i'm going to continue also on my undermount (having the same prob. as with my trapeze, getting it to land), and my farris wheel dismount. i also am pretty sure i finaly have the simplest form of braintwister down complete with 3-4 summersaults but i want to be able to end it with a skin the cat dismount, so i'll continue to work on the cat, then i'll work on my summersaults from the trapeze, which for just doing them for 2 days, i feel i'm doing really good on them.
so i have my work cut out for me this week. lots of stuff to learn.
i'm feeling really good about yoing right now. 1 month ago i thought that most of these tricks looked impossible. i thought i'd never land a trapeze, or do summersaults, or double or nothings, and now i'm starting to work on them all ready and i'm doing pretty good. god i love yoing!
thnx.
p.s.
sorry for such a long post.
WEEK #6
okay to keep from burning myself out, i need to take a break from yoing this week.
no certain number of tricks
no time limits
just yo if i want, and if i miss a day of yoing it wont kill me.
WEEK #7
okay here's what i've got going on this week:
100-single loops
25-50-double loops
25-trapezes
25-under mounts
25-split bottom mounts
25-trapeze to brother attempts
25-double or nothing attempts
and whatever else i feel like
WEEK #8 MONTH #2!!
okay, i have no idea what i want to do this week, so i'm just doing a small outline that may change through the week.
25-50-double loops
100-single loops
25-double or nothings
25-man on flying trapeze and his brother
25-bottom mounted braintwisters
25-barrel roles
WEEK #9
LOOPS:
100-single inside loops
50-double inside loops
50-hop the fences
50-single outside loops
STRING:
25-man on trap and bro.
25-split bottom mounts
15-double or nothings
10-double or nothings into trap.
50-trapezes
25-bottom mounted braintwister
WEEK #10
okay here it is
i want to work on atomic bomb, and mach 5
i also want to work on doing more consecutive loops instead of focusing on nothing but single loops and double loops so this is what i have for now.
30+mins.-loops
30+mins.-string tricks
WEEK #11
my 11th week of training!!!!
whahahahahahaha
1 more week, and i'll have 3 months under my belt.
i'm not getting any where very fast. but the last few days i've come to realize, that yoing doesn't come fast or easy. that it's something that you really have to strive for. i'm finding out that it'll take alot more patience and time to master then first thought.
so i'm going to relax, continue working on the basics, and just know that if i keep doing what i'm doing, the art of yoing will come. just give me time.
i'm going to continue my work on my trapeze/double or nothings/and triple or nothings.
and i need to really focus on my looping (y3a worlds is comming up)
so i'll do:
string:
50-trapezes (including man/trap and bro., and eli hops)
25-double or nothings
25-split botom mounted braintwisters
?-others (cold fusion, mach 5, atomic bomb)
loops:
100-triple loops
10-20 mins-assorted loops (4-5x loops, outside, hops)
WEEK #12 MONTH #3
note when kobun say's that i'm lying and can't do double or nothing and that it's taken from the chat room, yes that statement was taken from the chat room, but not from me, from kobun.
i don't understand why he doesn't believe me. double or nothing isn't that hard. but any ways i'm just going to ignore him cause lately he's been in a grumpy mood.
i'm going to start working on the tricks for the y3a compition, even though they are very simple. like i said before i need to respect every trick i need to do at this compition no matter how easy they are.
i also want to continue working on my combo's from trapeze double or nothing and reverse double or nothings.
i will be using alot of my raider since i've decided that this is the yo i wish to use at the compition.
and i will also continue my work on my loops, but i'll be using my jeniffer baybrook modded rb2's for this, since this is the yo that i'll be using when and if i goto the loop off tie breaker.
y3a:
25-forward passes
10-around the worlds
10-across the body around the worlds
10-walk the dogs
10-creepers
10-break aways
string:
15-30 mins.-combo's
25-trapezes with raider
loop:
15-30 mins.-looping
100-triple loops.
WEEK #13
all right it's that time of week yet again!
in the last week i've done good!
first i learned and got really good at my double on trapeze.
then i started to work on my ferris wheel dismount, which i'm getting better and better on. and now i've done quite a few ferris wheels!
but here's the deal, i need to stop ignoring atom bomb and mach 5. these are 2 of the easier advance tricks, and i believe mastering these both will improve my skill level, in which i'll be able to move onto bigger and better things.
i am also enjoying my combos, but they get old quick, so i'll continue on these.
i really need to be more consistant on my creepers, and landing my raider on the string on a trap, so i'll be workin on these as well.
and of coarse how could i forget loops!
string:
15-30 mins of combos
15+mins of a-bomb, mach 5
50-creepers w/ raider
25-trapezes w/raider
loops:
15-30 of whatever (inside)
WEEK #14
hey guys,
okay this week is going to be simple.
on monday or tuesday of next week i'll be headed to vegas. the compition (y3a) doesn't begin until the 8th (friday) but once in vegas, i just may not have the time or interest to practice as much as i normaly do (hmmm, can you figure out why??? olo).
so this week i'm just straight up practicing the tricks i'll be doing in vegas.
i'm taking a break from all other tricks i'm working on.
i'm doing well at looping all the sudden this week. i've been consistantly hitting 5 consecutive loops. and i've done at least 20-30 10 consecutive loops. so i'm pleased with that.
also i'm doing well with my landing the trapeze with my raider, and am doing very well with creeper, it's become natural for me.
one thing i'm worried about is one of the simplest tricks in the damn book. the forward pass. no it's not that i can't do it, it's just that it looks ugly. when i throw it for a forward pass, it sleeps at the end and kinda bounces at the end of the string, then comes back to my hand. i'm not sure how to correct this, i'd like to be able to do it so it looks smooth, no big deal though, cause it's still a forward pass, just a ugly forward pass.
also i contacted laflash at yomega, and so far there is only 6 other people registered for the novice 16+, so i'm happy about that. the less people in my division the better the chances of me hitting top 3.
so like i've said i'll be working on the y3a tricks i'll be doing this week.
i'm not making a "certain" amount of times i need to work on these tricks. i'll work on what i feel i could use more improvent on, and towards sunday and monday, i'll work feverishly on all of them just to make certain i can do them for the compition
WEEK #15
i'm feeling good.
after vegas (which at first was quite devistating) i feel confident, and renewed. i need to work harder at yoing, and i need to keep my dedication high.
i can do yomega's version of split the atom (the more complex, tougher version) so will continue to work on this. i am also now able to combo my braintwister and split the atom together. i want to continue on working on split the atom until it becomes natural such as my braintwisters are.
i also want to continue working on new tricks. i pulled off a chain reaction today which i'm happy with, cause i've been wanting to be able to do that trick, and i finaly did it, so i'll be working on this as well.
i do not want to work on loops for now. i'm busy as it is with my string tricks at the moment. looping can get old doing them day after day, after day. and once in awhile i just need a break from them.
i want to work on atom smasher, which really doesn't look that hard now that i've been able to do split the atom.
here it is:
20-braintwisters to split the atom
20-barrel rolls (5 rolls, dismount)
10-trapeze combos
20-30 mins-free
thnx.
i changed it a little, it was going by way to fast, and way to easy. also i'm going to go ahead and hold on the ferriswheels
WEEK #16, MONTH #4
k it's time for me to start my new week off! i'm going to continue my split the atom tricks, but this week i'm going to do multiple repitions of my combos from braintwister, barrel rolls, and mach 5. also i'd like to put a little more focus on atomic bomb, and i'll be doing some attempts at elli hops, as well as boingy-boings. i'm also going to work on chain reaction, and zipper, and yeah i gotta work on loops again , looping gets old, but hey if i ever want to get good at them i gotta continue working on them. so here it is:
50-elli hops attempts
10-braintwister to split the atom
10-mach 5 to split the atom
10-barrel rolls to split the atom
15-atomic bombs
10-chain reactions
?-open (zipper, etc.)
?-loops
100-3+ consecutive loops.
thnx.
i'm no longer doing the boingy-boing attempts. i thought maybe i was ready to start taking this trick on, however after today i know i'm not. i'll hold off on this trick for awhile.
thnx again.
WEEK #17
hmmmm i'm not sure what the heck i want to do this week. i'm confident that i now have a-bomb, chain reaction, and split the atom down, along with all the combos i've been working on.
i want to move on now though. i've moved far in the past 2 weeks, but i want more. this week will be nothing but trying new tricks out. watching vids of the tricks about a billion times, and then practicing them.
i'll go ahead and work on zipper, rewind, h-bomb, and anything else that catches my eye. i'm not going to put a limit on how much i practice this week, i'll practice as much as i see fit. so there it is.
thnx.
k i'm changing my routine this month. kobun mentioned to me that i should attempt all the string tricks i've learned with a less performing yo. i agree that this is an excelent idea, andj believe that if i master these tricks with a much less performing yo then my nm2, that i will truely master them, which will make me much smoother at yoing.
i've done a little thinking (stay clear, we need to close a 1 mile radius off, it could be dangerous with me thinking) anyways, i've gotten cought up with myself in the past 2 weeks. i feel i have taken a couple big strides in yoing lately with my tricks, and i forgot the whole, slow and steady wins the race idia. in my opinion, if i take yoing slowly, and truely take the time to "master" my tricks, that eventualy i'll become a truely gifted, skilled, and smooth player. i also got cought up cause it seems like i'm learning slowly. it seems that there's alot of people that have not yo'd as long as i, and that are trick wise, much better then i, but then i remembered, that this is okay, that everyone learns yoing differently. i'm taking it slowly, and my belief is that by doing this, i'll become a master yo'er.
so this week i'm only going to use my cold fusion gt. it's hard to use this trick for me because it's so responsive, and grabby on the string, but by using a really responsive yo, that's grabby on the string, it'll force me to really pay attention to all the small movements i'm doing during each trick, and it'll make me slow down, and really take the time i need to really become smooth at the trick. so here it is:
5-slack 1's
5-braintwister to split the atom
5-mach 5 to split the atom
5-barrel rolls to split the atom
5-atomic bombs
5-chain reactions to split the atom
?-open (zipper, rewind, etc)
30+mins-loops
WEEK #18
hmmmm this past week has been really, really long, frustrating, and boring. i just haven't been in much of a yoing mood. it seems i have hit a pretty strong wall, and i haven't faced having to tare a wall down yet in yoing.
i went to vegas with the complete intent of winning. i had my dad worried cause he knew that if i got to y3a and didn't win, that i would've been really hard on myself for not winning, and would probably be bummed the rest of the time in vegas. well i proved him that he did not need to fear this. i went and i won. as soon as the whole y3a experience had ended, i decided that i needed to train harder, to get better, to achaive more, in yoing.
well i did just that for the first 2 weeks after comming home from vegas. i picked up my nm2 and wam, i was all the sudden getting much better at yoing. i got mach 5 down, a-bomb, split the atom, and a bunch of combos. this and i achaived my first slack! i was hot, i was on fire, i was progressing well. but them slam! the last week i've realized that i really wasn't progressing, in the way i wanted to progress. sure i was progressing in the trick arena, but i wasn't really going any where with my skills in smoothness. sure i can pull all these flashy tricks with my high performance nm2 with ease, but soon found out that i strugle much when using any other yo (well besides my mini mo). so what do i do about it? quit? hell no, quitting is for loser, i am a winner, and refuse to quit. i will take this wall and demolish it, i could care how long, or how much work it will take, but i will tare it down, and move on.
i'm putting my nm2 away for awhile. i love the yo to death, but i'm just going to lay it out on the table. this yo is for advance-expert players, and at that level this yo works amazing. i'm not a advance-expert player, i'm still a newb, and feel i will stay this way till, i can progress on my skills rather then focusing on tricks. this week and for how ever long it will take, i'm going back to the basics, i'll be using only my team losi a-line cherry bomb (i put an extra set of spacers in it, for a larger gap, but is still consideribly a small gap), and my fh2. i refuse to even use my matrixx, for i find the matrixx to be a great playing yo, and can pull a-bomb, and split the a, with ease with it.
i'm also for this week at least going to work more on all my smaller tricks, instead of focusing on nothing but the tough stuff. this means i'll be doing alot of braintwisters, and different mounts, along with double or nothings, and stuff like that.
i feel to truely progress in yoing, or in any other sport/art/hobby, you must truely find a path, and stick with that path. the path i have choosen is the slow and steady wins the race path. i feel that as long as i'm taking my time to learn the essentials, in the end i'll win the riches, and truely be both skilled, and smooth.
here's what i have going this week:
25-split bottom mounted braintwisters
25-rock the babies/dizzy baby
25-trapeze, to reverse 2or0, to trap, to 2or0
25-attempts of 3or0
25-under to over mounts
25-ufo attempts
?-others
oh yeah, and no looping for now. looping will come in time, and i deffently want to pursue looping, and then go into 2 handed, but i want to mainly focus on my basic yoing skills for now.
WEEK #19
hey guys, well i have been pre-occupied the last week. but i keep on yoing, every day. it's become natural for me to devote an hour at least a day on yoing. i don't have to think about it any more, i just do it.
in the past week i've been practicing all the basics, and i have to tell you, i've really been enjoying it. although i'm really not working on anything flashy, or real difficult, i feel i'm making some real progress, and it's quite enjoyable. plus i know that if i get my basics down, it will really become alot easier for me to move onto the advanced tricks.
some of the progress i've made:
ufo-i've always found this trick very difficult. i could always get the yo to sleep sideways to myj right, but it was doing it to my left across my body un-loosing the string that i found difficult. i can now do a ufo both left and right with my bumble bee, and my hwhw, but that's with really responsive yos. i'm currently working on it with my cherry bomb, and am making some real progress. i've finaly found it easy to get the yo to sleep on it's side on my left, the real trick is returning it to the hand. i'm confident with my persistance, that i will soon have ufo, and all it's varients (around the block, larriat, rattlesname, etc) down.
dizzy baby-i've never really sat down and worked on this trick untill the past week. i always thought it'd be hard, but now i find it quite easy. it's yet another trick that i have down under my belt, and i'm happy with it.
also i feel i'm making alot of progress as to my performance with yos. with my cherry bomb i am now able to do rock the baby in the eifel tower. also with both my cherry bomb, and hwhw, i'm now able to do my chain reaction into a split the atom. i also did a chain to atom yesterday with my pink bumble bee.
i gotta tell you, it feels much more gratifing to perform these tricks with a less performing yo, then my higher end yos (ie nm2).
anyways, i'm going to keep with the basics this week. it's enjoyable to me, and plus it's already making me smoother with my movements. i just might stick with the basics for awhile. i don't really care if it takes me forever to get to the advanced tricks. it's not like i'm in a race, and i just want to focus on my smoothness. i think in another year from now, that if you put me next to someone that hasn't paid so much attention to their smoothness, and we both did superman, you'd deffinently be able to tell that i had more skills, and was much smoother.
so here it is:
25-split bottom braintwisters
25-ufo's to the left
25-budha's revenge
25-rewind attempts with mini mo
no loops still. i'll get to them in due time.
it's kinda scant, not much to do this week. but it should work for me this week.
thnx.
k i edited it a bit. i'm now going to do 25 budha's revenges. i know it's not really one of the basic tricks, but hey, i'm enjoying being able to do it (just learned tonight) and i'd like to become smoother at it. plus it imo really isn't a difficult trick (i do mine with the 1.5 mount).
thnx again.
yeah i edited it once again. i am now able to do rewind with my mini mo, but am not quite smooth enough at it, and seeing how i was going to do tripple or nothings this week, i mine as well go even further and work on my rewind.
see, even though i've been working on the basics, and working with my less performing yos, i've been getting somewhere. i'm really starting to progress, not only with my tricks, but with my smoothness as well.
thnx yet again.
WEEK #20, MONTH #5
wow, has it really been 5 months already! that's crazzy, seems like only a month.
i think i've come along quite well in the past 5 months. i remember when i was only able to practice all the basics, like walk the dog, and forward pass. then i got to rock the baby, and braintwister. that was fun. but then i hit my first trapeze and double or nothing, and just kept going. now i work on my chain reaction to split the atom, doing all sorts of combos in between, and cold fusion, budha's revenge, rewind, and the list goes on. the tricks i'm now working on are much tougher then anything i've attempted before. i love it though, this is where i've always wanted to be. i've always wanted to be able to do alsorts of flashy difficult tricks, and now i'm practicly there. i'm no longer embarassed of showing my skills off, in fact i look forward to showing my skills off, yoing is much funner to me now that i can do these tricks.
also the other thing that gives me great joy in yoing, is doing all these tricks with one of my simpler yo-yo, i usualy use my cherry bomb, or my hwhw, to practice, and it's much, much more gratifing to land these tricks on it, then it is with lets say my nm2.
however just because i have and continue to do these tricks, by all means this does not make me good at them. i still have a very hard time landing a cold fusion, and doing it smoothly. it takes me about 10 bad attempts to finaly land a good fusion. but then again it was the exact same thing with my trapezes when i first was learning those. i missed much more then i landed, but after time, it's become natural, and i hardley ever miss a trap. so i'm confident the same will hold true for all other tricks i'm working on now, and will be working on in the future. the key thing is, is to continue to practice it.
i'm also really enjoying ufo. this trick is seemingly easy, and yet it's so difficult. i've know alot of people that say they can't do it, or haven't learn it yet. i'm very close to it. i can do everything but return it to my hand everytime. but i'm landing it in my hand more, and more. also i've found that because i use ufo so much during my practicing (usually i'll do 5-10 tricks, then do 5 ufo's) that my string lasts much, much longer, which is always nice.
this week i'll go ahead and pick looping back up as well. i want to be good at both looping and string tricks, so i must move on with my looping as well. i feel i'm doing just fine with looping, although i don't always see it that way. i can right now do about 5 or 6 consecutive loops. but i've been yoing for 5 months now, so shouldn't i be able to do much more? i say no. that looping is a very hard thing to master, and to master it, it takes alot of time. i will get it, and be good at it, i just need to give myself the time, and practice i need for it.
i'm sick of braintwister, so i'm dropping it this week. that trick is natural for me, i did 20 summersaults last night in 1 braintwister, and still had enough spin to return the yo to my hand, without binding, so i feel i can move on with this trick.
i wish i could get stupid skin the cat down. i can't believe i'm having such a tough time with this trick, but again i think it will come in time, so i'm just going to hold off of this trick too.
so basicly this week is going to be just practicing on the stuff i can already do, and some of the stuff i have a hard time with.
10-remind attempts with mini mo
15-rewind attempts with hwhw
25-split the atom combos (i.e. chain reaction, brantwister, split the atom, mach 5, back to hand)
10-budha's revenge attempts with mini mo
15-budha's revenge attempts with hwhw
10-cold fusion attempts with mini mo
15-cold fusion attempts with hwhw
30+-ufo
100-5+inside loops
now i wont start this until tomorow, but i just couldn't wait to get this comming up week's routine up.
ohh and awesome job aox! that's way cool about your first suicide. how you doing with them anyways?
and kobun, hows sidewinder going?
WEEK #21
hey guys. k i gotta alot to work on this week. in the past week, i've discovered that i'm just not ready to do cold fusion yet. though lastnight, i hit an almost perfect coldfusion.
also, instead of just starting out with 5+loops, i've found it's both easier, and probably better to do lets say 15-2 consecutive, 15-3, 15-4. . .so on, so i'll be doing that this week also.
i find that when i do land a cold fusion, and i'm left with the yo on the trapeze that i want to end with a ferris wheel, unfortunently, i'm not too smooth at this trick as of yet, so i'll be working on that as well.
i'm starting to be able to do my split the atom combos with both my cold fusion and my tbb (both, none gt) which, imo is great. they are very responsive, and i think it shows just how smooth i really am getting.
this kinda gets frustrating, i never thought it would take me so long to do so little. it's taking forever for me to be able to get any good. buy ohh well, i'll stick with it, plus all this time of practicing, in the end will just help me out.
i'm thinking maybe next week, maybe even this week, i'll pick my yomega raider, and or fireball and learn my tricks with them.
i'm getting close to my yo-yo class. it was funny, yesterday i went to the clinic to help my dad out, and i bumped into my doctor. the last time i saw him, i was telling him about me and yoing, and he just stared at me like i was crazzy, out of my mind. well yesterday, i just happened to have my mini mo on me, so i stopped him and showed him some tricks. i jut did my chain reaction into a split the atom, into a mach 5 with 2 complete rotations, into a braintwister. then i did an almost perfect rewind. well, he was amazed, he just looked at me and said, holly shiznit (with a none pg word). it was cool, at first he thought i was crazzy for yoing, but after seeing me he was amazed. anyways, i told him about me starting my class, and he got all excited about it, and he really wants to go to it, once i get it started. that's the thing i like about this doctor. he's a down to earth, none stuck up person. and he's a little kid in the heart, he loves toys, and such. he's into stunt kites, and i see him every now and then at tthe park with his big kite. anyways, he left the clinic i ran home, got him a yo video, trick book, yo-yo, some extra string, and some lube. i wrote him a small note, and left all the loot on his desk, so i think today he was quite suprised, and happy. it's soo fun making others happy.
so now that i've talked, or rather typed your ears off, lets get to my routine:
sting:
25-fairess wheels
25-split the atom/atomic bomb combos
25-bottom mounts
25-rock the baby in the eifel tower attempts
25+ufo's/larriet
loop:
25-2 loops
25-3 loops
25-4 loops
25-5 loops
50-hop the fence attempts
well that's all folks, until next time.
WEEK #22
k, i'm taking a week off. i'll continue to yo a little, one accomplishment i've made, is being able to finaly land my frontstyle tricks (i.e. chain reaction into split the atom) with a loop out dismount.
man, i keep hitting this wall. i want to keep yoing, but it seems that i'm starting to loose my interest in it. errrr. i'm still unsure what to do about that. but ohh well.
thnx.
WEEK # 23
all right, time for me to take my head back out of my a$$ heh?
did my yo class today, and no i've been motivated again.
i'm not in a very good mood, nor have i been lately, so i'm not going to push my slef much this weeek. it's just simple stuff.
10-colf fusions (complete)
10-a-bomb/split-atom combos complete with a loop out dismount.
10-slices o pizza! (damn hardest trick i've come across)
ummm 2 more slices of pizza for good measure
25+ufo's
25-single loops
25-double loops
25-tripple loops
25-more slices of pizza
25-quad loops
15-more slices of pizza just to be safe.
and there it is. i'm planning on gaining about 25-30 pounds this week, lmao.
WEEK #24! MONTH # 6!!
yes! i've completed 6 months! may not sound like much, but it's really good for me. i never stick with just one hobby this long, so i'm proud i've stuck with it for so long.
it's really late right now, but i plan on reflecting once again soon, talking about some of the things i've acomblished in the last 6 months, with yoing. i need to give myself a break, and quit being so hard on myself, maybe by looking at all i've done so far, will bring a little happiness to me again.
hey kobun,
thnx, i'm taking your advise (you still haven't given me bad advise) about not making a list. your completely right, when i make lists, and have to do a certian trick a certian amount of times, it takes alot of the fun away, and makes it more work, which then i do bad, because i'm not having fun doing it.
it's working quite well, lastnight i was goofing off with my fh2, and did a few rewinds with it. the nice thing about it was, i haven't worked on rewind for weeks, and before now i really couldn't do it with anything but my mini mo (it's small, so i can land it on the tripple or nothing), so that was cool.
but the coolest thing, is SKIN THE CAT!!!! weeeeeeeeee
man, i can't tell you how much trouble i've had in the past with this trick. it frustrated me to no end. but lastnight again with my fh2, i did it numerous times. now that i've done it a few times, it's all a matter of time before i have that trick down (just like ufo, once i did it a couple of times, it was all a matter of practice).
so anyways, i'm happy.
ohhh yeah, i got a duncan imperial, and duncan butterfly today. i actualy really enjoyed the 30 minute sesion i had with them. i suggest everyone get a old fixxed axle yo, and have fun, just for the nastagia(sp???) it can bring you. it's really fun, well it was for me anyways.
i'm really suprised at how well the butterfly sleeps. was able to pull off a braintwister complete with 2 summersaults, a chain reaction, trapeze, trapeze into reverse trapeze, double or nothing, a few ufo's, and a couple of lariets. it was a shocker that this yo was even capable of such things.
anyways, i'm going to go ahead and stop making a weekly list, and i'll just keep in touch here, to let you guys know what i'm working on as the weeks go on.
thnx.
WEEK #25
hey guys, i'm back.
k, i know it's been a long time since my last week, but since i haven't really yo'd at all lately, i'm picking up where i left off. so i'm considering it week 25.
i have a tendancy to get into hobbies, and do really well in them, and focus on them alot at first. but as time goes on, i usually just up and quit the hobby for no reason. it's just how i work, i do really really well at something, then out of the blue i quit it.
last night was a good night for me. i picked up my fh2, and started to yo again. damn did it feel good. i started to think deeply last night. i'm a quitter. i quit at everything i do, regardless of how well i'm doing. i quit all my jobs, i've quit college, i get into hobbies, and then quit for no reason, it's just i'm a natarual born quitter. but what if that's only how i percieve things. maybe i've given up on so much in life, it's become a normal thing for me to do. but can i change this? yes, the answer is yes. i in the end am the one who makes the choice to quit what i'm doing, and just like i had a choice to quit, i also have the choice not to. well i'm choosing not to quit yoing. never have i had a hobby that is so intriguing(sp????), fun, and exciting, with so many cool people. i love yoing, and still can't wait for the day to get "good" (suicides, whips, crazzy long combos, etc...). i'm in a bad rut right now in yoing. i've been yoing for over 6 months now, and i feel i still suck at yoing. i still can't do many complicated tricks, and i still can't do any really advanced tricks (whips for instances). but you know what, in 2 years from now, is it really going to matter that i couldn't do all of this at 6 months? no, by then i should be very good, doing all the stuff i can only dream about now, but in order for me to get there, i must not give up.
so starting last night, i'm choosing not to give up this time. i'm choosing for once to go on, and continue what i'm doing. besides, if i had one skill, it'd be to yo. yoing is such an incredible thing, and it's something not alot of people master. i'm one of a few (relativly) that yo, and that i'm proud of, now for me to continue my quest to master the yo.
so this week i'm going to focus on my rewind. i love this trick, and find it a really fun trick to pull off, however i'm not even close to having it down yet, so i need to focus on my tripple or nothings, and my reverse tripple or nothings. also i'd like to continue with looping. lastnight i did 32 inside loops (my new record) with a cheap .75 cent yo my mom bought me from the store. that was cool for me, to be able to do so many loops, with a piece of crap yo. cold fusion still frustrates the hell out of me, maybe i'm simply not ready for this trick quite yet. don't get me wrong, i've pulled this trick off dozzens of times, it's just i'm not smooth at it, and i very, very often miss the last part of the trick (landing the yo back on a trapeze). maybe i still need to focus on the basics, that trick will come in time, i just need time. also a few weeks ago i was finaly starting to do skin the cat! but now i try it, and can no longer do it at all, it's crazzy what a few weeks of not yoing will do to you. and i also want to get ferris wheel down smoothly for once. this trick is a simple trick yes i know, however, i can't do it smoothly yet, the yo always seems to twist in my summersaults, so i want to change this by practicing this trick, till i have it down.
so here it is guys:
5-tripple or nothings
5-reverse tripple or nothings
5-attempts at rewind
10-ferris wheels
10-atomic bomb/split the atom combos
5-cold fusion attempts??
?-ufo's (who knows how many, i got this trick down btw)
?-loops (not sure how many i'll be doing this week. sorry.)
thnx.

20 Black Magic Slacks
20 attempted pocupine slacks
20 Red Clovers
20 1.5 scuidide attempts
20 attempts of bellorongs (i think thats the name)
20 attempts of Concussion By Mouse Pad (my own)
20 double on scuides (just to master them)
Thats all i think of!Zapp Brannigan: The key to victory is discipline, and that means a well made bed. You will practice until you can make your bed in your sleep.
Fry: You mean while I'm sleeping in it?
Zapp Brannigan: You won't have time for sleeping soldier, not with all the bed making you'll be doing.

Right now I am doing:
10 Slack Trapezes
10 Iron Whips
10 Kwijibos
10 Buddha's Fusions
5 White Buddhas
I like to practice until I hit that number, not just attempts. I think this gives me more practices the worse I am at a trick. I usually do not work a trick into regular practice until I have hit it quite a few times. I am getting pretty competent at slack trapeze and iron whips, so I will probably move them off the practice list soon and add some lacerations.

hey thanks man, means alot.
it may sound crazzy doing this list for so long, but it really does help. it helps keep me focused on what i'm doing, and what i need to accomplish. it gets old sometimes doing the list day, after day, but you know what, it only helps with my smoothness, and consistency. for instance, my plastic whips. i'm not too good at them, but just after 2 days of doing them 11 times, i'm hitting it about 1 in 4 attempts, which is really good for me.
anyhow, i'll start back up with looping next week. i'm playing around with looping still, just not in a routine, and i'd like to get a routine on them up and going again.
thnx.
