Chat is REALLY slow

ok so this has never been a problem before for me. But the last two days my chat has been extrmely slow, it takes a long time loading, and it takes a long time for me to type and enter it. Its so slow I dont even bother trying to deal with it. Any suggestions?

Have you tried rebooting your computer?

yeah, I have restarted it 2 or 3 times.

Clear your cache/cookies, and then try it.

Lately the whole board has been running alittle slow.

If you are using mozilla/firefox, it's under the preferences drop down in edit.

In IE it's in the internet options - delete cookies, delete files.

The chat isnt on the same server as the board. Also the chat is run on like 10 servers.. thus the odds of it being slow for 3 days in a row... low.. ITs your box ;)

I cleared my cache ( I think) and that did nothing, what else can I do?

gaim, xchat mirc etc. search for it on the board, there should be a few threads on the subject.

It will probably work better than a browser. It's designed for chat. Browsers are becoming a jack of all trades and master of none, and in some cases don't do some things very well at all.

but It used to work fine, after I got back from vacation it was really slow.

Sorry. They are giving you good advice. Just get Mirc or gaim or something and be happy.

To connect: /server irc.vbulletin-chats.com 6667
To set a name: /nick JohnDoe
To join a chat channel: /join #theyo
To chat in a channel: Just type and press enter!

With the buddy window open, go to the pulldown "Accounts" then "Add/edit", click "add"

Protocol: IRC
ScreenName: whatever
Server: irc.vbulletin-chat.com
Password: you dont need one

Then click "Advanced"
Port: 6667 or 9999
Encodings:UTF-8
Username: whatever
Realname: whatever

Save

Go back to the window "Buddy list" click the pull down "Buddies", "add a chat"

Channel: #theyo
save
click on the icon that should appear in the in the "buddy list" window.

If this doesnt help. Your pretty much tough out of luck
