Default Hitman over tighting

I got my hitman alls swish so far.. I'm a little worried that sometimes when I sleep itand yank it to return the string misses and kind of curls and the yoyo just keeps sleeping, I'm not quite sure how to explain it.. but anyway it doesn't return.. I'm all to familiar with people warning about over tightening yoyojams, is this a sign of it?.. I thought if not it might just be that the strings too twisted.. infact un-twisting the string does seem to get it back to returning itself again.. If it isn't over tightnening what would I expect to happen if I do overtighten?..

Thanks for any advice!

ps. I haven't taken the yoyo apart yet.. actually it seems pretty tighly spun together I'm scared of turning it too far either which way.

actually, false alarm.. THANK GOD the string just needed changing, but wow it never would of crossed my mind.. I've had the hitman less than 10 hours. If all my strings are going to be like that I'm ordering bulk first thing in the morning.

I'd still like to know what happens when I over tighten a yoyojam if someone knows?

cheers =]

Changing the string is one of the first things to try when you perceive a change in how the yoyo is performing. A new string can make all the difference in the world.

I haven't ever damaged any YYJ's by overtightening, but I try to be careful. I can imagine if you REALLY crank the hell out of it you could probably strip the metal sleeve with the threads out of the yoyo. You'd know if you did this, as it would pop/crack/break and the yo would be all nasty to throw and not work right at that time.

What you experienced was your yo-yo becoming "unresponsive". If a new string fails to help you out in the future, and you have the gap set small already, you can use a light oil on the bearing to increase responsiveness. This will make the yo return to your hand when you tug.

On string replacement, I replace my strings after about an hourish of play, or when they lose their "springiness". On responsive yos, where I'm not trying to do whips/slacks or making up crazy stuff, the string lasts longer, as the tricks I'm trying to do take less string manipulation, and my hands aren't making it all dirty and funky.

Anyway, to sum up, you know you've overtightened your YYJ yo if it's broken from you turning it too hard.

brill thanks allot for the tips..

yeah I think changing the string will be the first thing I do when I think somethings not right.. it really does make all the difference.

About over tightning, it's on pretty tight already.. I still can't get the thing to open up.. personally I wouldn't ever of put it back as tight as they have pre-packed it.. so I guess it's not as delicate as I thought.. but I'll be carefull none the less.

I've given up trying to open it up, is there anyway other than guessing I'd know which direction to unscrew for it to open?.. I don't want to give it all that incase I'm yanking it the wrong way.

Oh and thought I'd mention I couldn't get my hands on a suction cup anywhere in time for my yoyo being delivered so, I took the large metal pole off my vaccum cleaner leaving just the bendy pipe attached to the main part of the vaccum.. took the end of the pipe, stuck it on the side of my hitman and turned it on at a quater power (600watts) .. and the thing just popped off no hassle.. hope that might help someone else w/o a cup.

Take your right hand and put it on one side of the yo-yo. Hold it firmly.

Take your left hand and, grasping the other side of the yo-yo, roll your thumb over the top of the yo-yo, hopefully loosening the yo-yo. If it doesn't, do it harder. That's the only direction yo-yos are meant to be unscrewed. At least in America.

bingo!.. nicely done =]

it's just that breaking the yoyo isn't like breaking a replaceable part.

thanks a ton!
