I've been enjoying this thread on another forum, but it seems that some of the people frequenting it have pretty narrow tastes. I know for a fact that there are people on here with better and more diverse music tastes, so I thought I'd start one on TheYo.
Basically the thread is supposed to be for sharing your music tastes and exposing people to new artists and styles of music. Post 1 YouTube video or link to a song, but also rate the music that the person before you posted from 1 - 10 and maybe say a comment about why you did or didn't like it. Don't quote the previous post though or the thread will look like a mess. Also, don't keep posting stuff from the same artist. Keep it interesting and fresh. If there's something that you really like from a post that was further back, go ahead and rate that one as well, but don't ignore the one that came before you since that's the point of the thread.
I'll start it off.
I love me some 70's jazz fusion. It's like I'm living in a 70's blaxploitation movie and loving every second of it. If I had theme music this the type of stuff it would be.

I give it a the track an 8. I really enjoyed it. I feel like I should be in a sitcom busting bad guys and getting the ladies.
I must say though, if I had my own sitcom, I think it'd have to start off with:
I imagine myself being in a small aircraft flying around an island (pointing at everything I see with a wild new enthusiasm).

Erm, I think as background music it is good but for just listening, I don't really like it. I'll give a 4. I don't know how to embed, but I'll give it a try
Here's the URL, don't know how to make it read html

there's a button in the comment window that looks like a youtube logo that you can click. you just put the video code from the end of the youtube link inside there. like this, but with brackets instead of parens.

7/10.
it's a funky song and i like it for the most part. kinda fratty to me though, but that just may be a personal bias since my frat guy step brother used to listen to cake.
Bonobo. Some of the best stuff on the famous Ninja Tune label.

Bonobo. Very chill, elegant sounding stuff. I give that a 8/10 when I'm in the mood for low key.
Cake. Cake is starting to wear on me. I used to like it, but it's a bit too... Shallow for me? Not that it's bad stuff, I just like music to be a little more complex than that usually.
Love the Straussmania. That 70s stuff always puts me in a great mood.
Dunno what to say about the Sunahara... It puts me in a good mood too, but an anthropomorphic airplane flying around really reminds me of Pilotwings. Haha.
Submitted for your disapproval:
A raver anthem. Cube::Hard's remix of it takes it to a new level (the '98 track wasn't that killer in my opinion), and the vocals alongside the freeform-ish roots really make the track sound out. It's fresh sounding, but also very layered, and a happy tune. You can call it musical popcorn, but I think it's a great way to kick off or finish a hardcore mix (as does CLSM).

Shock Tsunami
From me- I'd give this a 7/10. Not too big on this style of electronic music, but I can appreciate where it comes from.
Here's my submission, an acid trance song from the peak of the times, 1993. Many/most will not like this, but you can clearly hear the Roland TB-303 blasting away throughout the whole song, which is what I really love about it!3yo3 yoyos

8/10. I'm not that into acid/psy trance, but I had an Astral Projection double CD many years ago and this sounded a lot like that stuff. I've got a good friend who throws a bunch of psy-trance raves around Illinois and I have to say that I like older stuff like this better than the newer full-on type psy. I guess that I can't really get that into a genre that's just based on one type of sound (the 303) on top of a basic beat. As you can tell from my previous music choices and this one, I'm more into interesting beats and rhythms.
Going with the electronic theme. I've been listening to a bunch of glitch-hop recently. Check this one.

Seriously.
8/10, just because it's not my favorite song from him.
I recommend artsy remix feat. the grouch

Crazy lyrics.

6/10 for the Destiny Lane. I'm super particular about hip-hop and my opinion has a large part to do with musical production rather than lyrical content. It's better than most, but I still just wasn't feeling it that much. Maybe I'll post some hip-hop that I like soon.
Shock Tsunami - That's pretty cool. You should definitely get more into techno. I like it much better than the harder style stuff you've been into. The first half of that track is really good, though still pretty good after it gets harder.
TrevorV - Chicago is sweet. Have you heard their track "Street Player"? It's not as famous but it's been sampled a whole lot in house music. Here's The Original if you wanna hear it, but my music choice is the famous track by The Bucketheads that sampled it. It was actually on an episode of Beavis & Butthead that I watched recently. Haha.

7/10, Joe Satriani is sick.

3/10 - I'm not a fan of metal, especially stuff that yells at me. I've heard more obnoxious metal though.
IV - I know that Satriani is a master at what he does and all, respect for that, but that video put me to sleep. When you listen to mostly dance music a guitar solo is pretty boring.
Here's some Moderat. It's a colaboration project by Modeselektor and Apparat. Both awesome on their own but together the whole album is sick. This video is also in super high quality HD on the youtube page if you wanna check that out.

I'd say 6/10 even though I'm not a fan of minimalist music, unless it's 8bit/chiptunes. XD
Sorry, can't embed.
