I'm curious on what your favorite books are! Don't be afraid to tell everyone your thoughts. ;)
Nonfiction: Game Coding Complete, (2nd edition) by Mike McShaffry
Thoughts: While it only deals with programming with DirectX, alot can be learned from this book. It covers practically EVERY programming aspect of making games. It even touches on writing your own graphics engine. It does not, however, teach you how to program.
Fiction: Gotrek and Felix, The First Omnibus. by William King. (It's in the Warhammer series)
I origionally read this book in it's origional form, three separate books. Sadly, they were from the library, and they discontinued loaning them because of their violent nature. They way the books are written reminds me of playing an RPG. The story follows the same path.
Gotrek is by far my most favorite fictional character of any book.

Both are really hard to pin down for me. I've read and loved so many books.
Nonfiction: The Myth of Sisyphus and the Rebel by Albert Camus
Fiction: Book of the New Sun - Gene Wolfe. The only book I wanted to read again as soon as I finished. It's pretty amazing. It isn't light reading, and you have to work to get meaning out of it. Wolfe is playing a number of games while you read, and what isn't said is sometimes more important than what is. I've yet to be as thoroughly engrossed in something as I was when I read this.

Nonfiction: 13 Steps to Mentalism by Corinda
Will tune your bullshine detector, teach you the solid basics of deceit.
Fiction: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
You should read this. Really. It's indescribably good.
If you succeed in destroying someone's deeply entrenched beliefs using facts and logic, that person won't change his mind but will hate your guts forever.

Nonfiction: Night (short but powerful)
Thoughts: It is a firsthand holocaust story of a boy who gets separated from his mother and sister and watches his father die slowly and painfully. Very powerful story that shows the holocaust in a way that no film could ever show.
Fiction: Of Mice and Men (I wish it wasn't so sad)
Thoughts: It's a classic. It felt a bit like Old Yeller. Story of two men trying to survive in a world just too big for them. One of them has a mental disability that hinders both of them.
My favorite books are so short. I think long books bore me a bit. Though Hitchhiker's guide was epic win. Read the whole series. I love the part about how to fly! It's so simple!

Hitchhiker is amazing.
:)
Imma have to look into 13 steps. Sounds intriguing.
btw is there any Twilight fans here? One of my friends is a complete nut. She has the same book like 3 times, One's her original one, one's the one she reads with, and one is with her 24/7. She goes to the book signings and freaks out whenever there's a new commercial for the movie. It's scary.

Non-Fiction: The Making of the Atomic Bomb
Reads like a newspaper article, with more focus on the people involved rather than the actual events. It's more of a documentary rather than an actual story, but its very interesting to see the "human" side of the Manhattan Project.
Fiction: I would say anything by Jules Verne or Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
Verne's works are just plain fun to read, and Miserables does a great job of creating multiple story lines and then interconnecting them into a bittersweet resolution.
I definitely need to read more though =PRicks: Take out the borked drive, and put in a spare hd in that drive bay ^_^ external cd drives are annoying, but useful in a pinch...
aperson: You're talking about a mac ricks.
