I'm looking at these:
http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Super...6662243&sr=8-4
These will be my first 60-100 dollar headphones and I am wondering, does anybody know what their warranty is like? I have a history of breaking my earphones within a year or so of getting them, and I think they have a 2 year warranty. Has anybody here dealt with them with warranty?
On another note, does anybody have any earphones in that rough price range that they feel are better? Durability is, for the reason above, very important.
thanks guys

i hav those amongst th UE superfi.5's...
NO COMPARASON!!!!!( i think i spelled that wrong, didnt i?)
but still... i dont think skullcandy's fit very well... they're rather uncomfortable, but its different for different people...
but if you dont want to drop too much money for EXCELLENT headphones with GREAT bass, then go for the V-Moda Bass Freq...
they are ECELLENT!!!!
skullcandy's dont hold a thing to v-moda's, and they're usually the same price...
maybe (up to) $10 more expensive, but that depends on the color...
so all in all, the skull candy's...eh...
the UE super.fi.5's... if you REALLY want to...
v-moda bass-freq... YES!!!
o and i'm not shure what the warranty is like on the shures, but i do know, that on the v-moda's, if something happens that isnt supposed to, send them an email, and they will most likely ask you to ship back the headphones and keep the acceories...
trust me n that... i'm not the most careful person with my v-moda's, just cuz i kno they can take it...
ALSO, if they dont tak it back, you can always use the extra csh you saved to buy another!(?)

i got the super.fi 5s for my birthday. listening to them now. i also have the shure e5cs ($500, yea.... not gonna say ohw i got those!)
i like the super.fi 5s. ultimate ears are so tough. i've killed a good many headphones in my life. and i gotta say these stand up to a lot. you can even swap the wires out because they detach from the IEMs.
i'd say save up and go for the super.fi 5s.
my only complaint with either of the UEs are that they are HUGE. and don't fit streamlined to your ear the way they are set up. but i put the left monitor in my right ear, and the right in the left. that way they stay in.
but honestly, these are way to clunky for everyday pocket use, even the 3's. for pocket carry arounds, see v-moda bass freq. THE BEST $30 headphones available... periiod.
any more q's pm me...WAR IS A STATE OF MIND — BRAIN DEAD.

um sorry but I didn't understand what you said- when you said no comparison did you mean the ultimate ears were better or the skullcandys? Also, I didn't mention originally, but I prefer the in-ear canalphones, so I'd probably not get the V-modas
oh yeah, also I already have some nice 30$ phones, I have some money now so I wanted to see what the next price point sounded like. BTW I was looking at the 3's, the 5's are too much for me. Are those also still "clunky" and big for a pocket? What about compared to these:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-EX51L...6666256&sr=8-1
Also, do any of these use the "one side is longer than the other" style, so that one earphone wire is draped around the neck? I prefer that one

I know nothing about the ones you linked in the first post so I cant really say much about them...and if I had to use anything made by Skullcandy to listen to music, I just simply wouldnt listen to music at all...I've had a couple pairs of them, my son has had several pairs of them (all different variations on both accounts BTW), and they're just garbage earbuds...any OEM set of earbuds (ones provided with mp3 players when you buy them) stomp all over every pair of Skullcandy I've ever had the displeasure of listening to...
I went through looking for earbuds, reading reviews, listening to suggestions, etc etc for a couple of weeks a few months ago and came across alot of really good earbuds...check this thread out to see if it helps you on your quest any...

the Sony's that I ended up getting have been simply awesome and are still going strong today...I dont regret my purchase at all...

skullcandys are... ok. passable. the v-modas surpass the quality and have like... half the price. but for the real $$ shoot for the UEs regardless of model. you'll be happy with them.
but consider that once you get soem IEMs, your probably not going to get another set for a while.
also consider etimotic headphones. my dad has a set of those. not so tough, but THE best quality available.WAR IS A STATE OF MIND — BRAIN DEAD.

I'm using JVC Gummi's right now on my ipod. Although, I think they might give up on my soon. (One of the grills popped out the other day :\) I think I'll either order what Luke has, or try the V-Moda ones.

if you've got money to burn, go full out and get the super.fi 5's.
if not, get the v-modas. best quality for the cash your paying. check c-net. even they rate it high. and they are cheap! i say shoot for it.... look at all the perdy colors!WAR IS A STATE OF MIND — BRAIN DEAD.

i got the full metal jackets for my bday... they are crap! they have NO bass what so ever...
and in my opinion, dont go with sony... but thats just what i say from 2 bad experiences...
i bought a pair when i was younger, and for me, the $40 price tag was hug and i saved forever, and then after i got them, i only used them at home... and somehow, one earbud died on the 4th day!
same thing happened the second pair i bought!
so personally, i wouldnt go with sony...

nope... vibe duos, for that price range get the super.fi 3s... or the entry level shures if you must...
my belief is, if yuo truly care about sound quality, shoot for top notch (not top top, like the $550 shures... just plain overkill. or the super.fi 10s.. the 5s are pleanty good.)
UE is good overal sound. but if you want sharp music, and to be able to pick out every instrument easily, shure is the way to go. shures get tiring on the ears. UEs are comfortable fit-wise, and sound wiseWAR IS A STATE OF MIND — BRAIN DEAD.
