OKay, so this is far off most of the topics here but Im just wondering about what goes on in a guitar players mind...
(I'm limiting the choices to very popular models)

Ah, the age old question of Gibson vs. Fender. Well, it really comes down to what you're looking for in a guitar.

    Fender:
Fender guitars(or any single coil guitar) have a very biting sound, with good high end and sharp tone. Single coils give you a wide variety of sound when you use the selector switch. Plus, the strat has a tremelo so you can bend the strings. This will cause it to go out of tune REALLY fast though unless you have locking tuners

    Gibson:
Gibson guitars have a warm, low end sound. These guitars RULE for heavy rock such as metal. They have a good trebly sound for solos and such, but still come back for you thrashing.

Look at that, decide for yourself. I'm still thinking about it.

personally, i like twin humbucker guitars like les pauls...
but im currently using a ravelle with the sustainer and an ibanez rgt42 with a locking trem....more modern sound, and lighter than les pauls

I like LesPauls feel. Isn't as difficult to sit in your lap when sitting down. They are a little heavy so if I were on stage and had to stand up I would go for a Fender telecaster. (Blues is my style of play).

[I tune my pickups to be bright so I would agree with some of the other posts if it was a Stock setup. ]

hotrails...not a bad idea, or a dimarzio tone zone s....
but then again a real humbucker, is a real humbucker, not some single coil wannabe or something....

Looks like I put Les Paul in the lead. I like the shape and sound of small heavy body instruments, my favourite bass is the Warwick Thumb. Weight doesn't bother me as I have a fat leather strap and cut my gigging teeth lugging a Fender Jazz around.

My favourite guitar I've played is the Gibson Nighthawk, which is fairly similar to the Les Paul standard in shape, a little smaller and lighter, and the custom model has three different pickups...

Iknow its not an option on this poll, but I had to say something about the Parker Fly- if you have the means, pick one up- its sooo choice.

too bad they are like 3000 bucks. But they play like a dream.

I don't like Gibson for the fact alone that they're such trend guitars where I live. Total guitar idiots not having a clue just run around all day praising Gibson guitars. Personally I think they're ugly and fat, not to mention those misplaced flipbuttons on the top. Just like girls, I don't like em ugly and fat, rather slim and curved, like my wonderful beautiful Kramer Stagemaster, so I'll stick to that (It's an old Kramer, not one by Gibson, so don't even try being a wiseass :-) )

alot of the stuff you wrote in there isnt true. fender bridges are built very well and unless you use the whammy bar a very large amount, the strings are gonna stay in tune pretty well whether you have locking tuners or not. strats dont have a very "biting" sound to them...there is some but not alot..just think blues and the twang sounds they get out them...theres your strat..

your gibson guitars comment is somewhat off also..they have a warm sound all around, not just on their low end. treble doesnt have that much to do with solos..any guitar can solo...its the player that decides if the guitar solos or not.
    Go in peace...

I guess I should clear up what I was saying. I guess I wasn't clear enuough when I wrote this.

I was implying that if you bend the strings, it'll go out of tune. I guess I should have been more clear.

This all depends on what pickups you are using. You can get a HUGE array of sounds from what effect you use, what pickup, etc. I do think they have a bite to them, but really its what you use it for.

I put a comma in between warm and low end because they are different thoughts. It's a warm sound, and has great low end. Get me?

This is true, but this once again goes in to personal preference. I like a lot of treble when I do high distortion solos and such, and this guitar has a great treble. It really depends on how you like the guitar set up.

Hope that cleared it up for ya!
