Bringing YO BACK!

As the yo'er community, we need to think of things to get the world back into yoing.

Too many people these days are playing video games all of the time and going on facebook every minute.

We need to bring yo back. It's a constructive thing that people can practice at to feel like they accomplished something.

Going on facebook and xbox gets you nowhere.

At least yoing is a social sport that actually makes you get up!

Any ideas acceptable.

Just my rave. Feel free to agree/disagree.

Just thought i'd post this: anyone else have trouble yoin' in the wind? I was outside and boy is it hard to land it sometimes. The string is always moving and that makes it tough. Probably good practice for coordination.

Am I alone on this?:brz

Looking at the arsenal list, it seems *some* people need a reminder.

What a treat! This week my mother gave me not one, but TWO of the most perfect yoyos!

She didn't ask what I wanted, she didn't do any research, she just kept them for all of these years! I thought they were gone but now I have them both.

1) My first yoyo, a red, dark red, imperial that I remember getting when I was in first grade. Mom remembers me getting it while in kindergarten and I carried it around for years. She's going to check some photos to make certain when I got it. (So that would have been in 1968 or 1969)

2) My second yoyo from second grade. A glow in the dark imperial.

I love you Mom!

I met my first REAL yoyo hater!

A couple of days a go, I stepped out of the building durring my lunch break, and started yoing in a hidden corner of the grounds. I really just wanted some time by myself and it was feeling good to throw a bit in the cool afternoon.

I hear a voice, look up, and there is a guy sitting on a bench and he starts just going off on me and my yoyoing. I'm pretty stubborn and there was no way this guy was going to get me to stop throwing nor was I going to engage him in debate over the pros of yoyoing.

I kept throwing he kept saying vile garbage for almost 20 minutes, I remained silent. Looking at my watch I knew I had to get back to work. I looked at him and said, "Do you feel better now?" He laughed, cursed and indicated that he did. I replied, "Yoyoing makes me feel better too. I'm glad my yoyoing helped you relieve some stress. I'll be back tomorrow and I'll bring you a yoyo to use if you would like."

The next day he was back, he didn't yoyo, but he didn't rant. He shook my hand introduced himself and came close to apologizing. He has watched everday now and seems much more subdued.

It would have been easy to say something awful to this guy in the first five seconds of having met him. If I had of said what I felt at the time he would still be filled with hate and would be confrontational.

We complain about hate on the boards, but maybe, just maybe our responses help that same hate to grow. I challenge you to find a positive way to deal with haters. It made me feel good!
